Since it rained for my birthday Tam and i took a little road trip. Picked up dog food in Medicine Lake, on to Sidney and Tam got a buy on a pair of shoes. Since it was the middle of August i bought my new winter Carhart chore coat.We then took the back way to Williston but stopped at Fort Buford for the encampment of the 6th infantry. They have rebuilt the Headquarters office and the enlisted mens barracks.

Last pic, I'm guessing that is a billet strap / cinch cutter ?
Looks like a nice place, I wish we'd of had time to go there last time I was up that way.

its a food chopper

Well your mostly right. :D

They would take a quarter of beef, buffalo or venison ect. and lay it on the chopping block. Two men would take the chopper and work it through the meat, bone and all. They would then turn it half a turn and do it again. The 4 inch square of meat and bone would then go in the pot for cooking. When it was ladled out you got what you scooped. :D

Or could be used by ONE really large fella. Note the flat spots beside the wooden handles.....LOL STand up and rock back n forth on it.

Thank goodness for processin plants.

I love places like those old forts. It's a nice way to spend an afternoon on an unhurried trip.

LOL I gotta chuckle outta your buyin a new carhart in August. My first thought was....do they ever put that kinda stuff on clearance sale up there? Here the best time to buy any kinda winter clothes is February or March. They put everything on sale, usually half price.
