My thoughts on the election

Let’s explore the reality, sort the chaff from the wheat, play the devil’s advocate on the Presidential diabolical.
All politicians at this level are cut throat liars! In order to get to this level you must have made lots of money and to get there it takes over ambition, back-stabbing, lying, and back door deals to achieve success in today's world. It takes a lot of personal money and an enormous amount of financial backing from someone – lobbyists, corporate business and even foreign interests. Now why would any of those give you money to get you elected?? Pork to support what they want! The truth is that those interests control all the Congress and potential nominees for office such as President.
Obama claims he is going to change how we conduct business in Washington. Now the last I knew Congress is elected and the President is not the CEO and can’t fire any of them. Is he going to go against all the Democrat congress who supported getting him elected, tell them to change how they conduct business, turn away from the very lobbyists, big business, and supporters who gave him money and support? He promises a sugar tit for everyone. How? Raise taxes and keep spending. A lot more spending! But that gets votes.
For those that protest so much of McCain, is it because that he is a Repulican? Or is it that he doesn’t offer all the handouts and paints a more realistic picture. Are all Republicans and Democrats bad just because they belong to a particular party? If all Republicans are bad then why be supportive of the likes of Ron Paul? If we were truly behind “change” we should be voting for an independent. If we truly want “change” we should be demanding less from government. If we truly want “change” we should be all over every congressman like a pair of dirty shorts and let them know that we will vote them out. Voting and protesting against because someone is of a particular party gains nothing. Government and it’s sucklings are like an enormous fire consuming more and more each day. It wants more of what you have. Period. Why? To spend. It is an enormous parasite living off the host – US.
Yes we need change, but it starts with congress. They have already spent us to hell and back. Why would we want to spend more?
I don’t know if McCain or Obama are corrupt, neocons, elitists, or too old or young. What I do know is that neither of them will make a significant difference as long as congress conducts business as usual.

I can agree that Congress needs a swift kick in the behind and, if the polls are right, there's a good chance they'll get it again November. More and more Republicans are trying to distance themselves from Bush. Unfortunately their records are their records and most of them voted in lock step with George W. Bush. Look at Oregon's Senator Smith. He's not using Bush in his ads, he's using Kerry and Obama.

The president has much more influence on our day to day lives than Congress. Bush has chosen to govern as a conservative. Conservatives think the less government, the better. Look what it's got us: less oversight in financial markets has led to the mortgage crisis; less oversight on imports has led to children dying from lead paint on toys; less oversight on mining companies has led to an increase in coal mining deaths as uninspected mines collapsed; less oversight on our borders has led to an increase in illegals coming into our country; hacks rewriting scientific papers to ignore or minimize environmental problems. Those are a few of the things where the current President has affected your life in ways Congress can't, and I won't even claim our Justice Department didn't have enough oversight. IMO, it was deliberately used as a political tool by the Bush Administration to get more Republicans elected. We had a Sec of Education working not to improve public schools but to encourage school vouchers. Secretary of Defense we all know about. There's a very long list of things this President has screwed up based on his policical philosophy. John McCain has the same philosophy. One of his chief spokesmen has said John McCain's policies will be an "extension and enhancement" of Bush's policies.

If you think your Congressman/Senator doesn't reflect your views, vote him out. If you think George W. Bush has been a good president, vote for McCain. I think he's been a disaster for this country and there's no way on God's green earth that I will vote for more of the same by John McCain.

And those are my thoughts on the election. :)

I think you are right fff- people are associating most of our problems with inept leadership...I know when I'm at the filling station some days for the morning coffee bull session-- the folks filling their gas tanks don't come in cussing Congress- or Pelosi----they come in cussing Bush and cussing the Oil Companies--- and they associate Big Oil with Repubs.....

It is sad what Bush has done to the Repub party...In Montana its law you must indicate your party affiliation on your campaign literature/posters-- and I see many this year that aren't even putting Republican anymore- but a little tiny elephant down on the corner of the ad.... :???: :(
