Mytty In Focus bulls

These are the three 1/2 brothers we bought to breed the heifers.
Not the best pictures, but they're all I took.

I invite your comments--good or bad.

He's a potato head.     :p

What is sticking up in the air the highest is a bale rack for a truck--used
when Mr. FH hauls bales in from the field. It is sitting on edge.

The other stuff is a disc that is folded up.

Hard to watch the background when you're trying to take pictures of
livestock. One bull posed well, one was ok and the other didn't want
anything to do with getting his picture taken. Interesting, that bull
acted the most gentle when the video was taken. I bid on these
on the internet. Roger Jacobs looked them over for us before the sale,
and we were pleased.

Now I think I have 2 shots of the same bull by the bale feeder!!!

This must be the other bull. But I hate to post this picture. He looks really camped under or sickle hocked in this photo, but he isn't really.
He is standing with his rearend uphill.

If I was to fault any of them it would be to call the third bull post legged. Maybe just the picture. They do look like they are plenty smooth enough to calve heifers to, time will tell.

Looking good FH-- I think this spring in all the bull sales I attended- the sire group I thought looked the best at all of them was the In Focus's ...

Both the bulls and heifers I saw selling....

Fasterhorses,
Maybe I have gotten the wrong impression from other posts of yours, but this isn't the pedigree that I would assume you would look at.
And Oldtimer, that goes for you too.
Are you switching over to the dark side. :?

Nope- but most the sales I took in this year were of the "bigger, better , faster" category-- and the In Focus were imho the nicest of any of the sires I saw there of those....Maybe because they were some of the deepest, thickest of the cattle.....

Altho my son has an In Focus heifer- that was out of a moderate one of the Galpin cows (Tehama Lite daughter)- and she turned out to be a good moderate sized- "average" cow that is an easy keeper...They tell me as far as frame size he usually breeds pretty true to the cow...
I wanted to see what she'd raise bred back to my Wye bull- but he decided to AI her to OCC Magnitude this year...

gcreek; the third bull is the same as the first bull. I put two pictures up of him by mistake. The thrid bull is on a reply post to BMR.

Horseless-the reason for these bulls is because we are selling all the bred heifers this fall and I thought the name recognition of Mytty In Focus would help to sell them. Then we will keep all the heifers from this calf crop and breed them again to these bulls. I was careful in picking them as to lowbirthweight dams, etc. These are January calves so they will be
18 months old before we use them in June. In my research I found In Focus is called a moderate bull. These are certainly thick and deep with
nice rear quarters. We'll see what they look like this fall!!

Those bulls look good to me FH! I have seen alot of In Focus sons and for the most part they are best I have seen this year and last year. Some of the thickest, moderate type of bulls I saw this spring were by him.

I really wanted to buy an In Focus bull this spring but I have to many cows with 6595 in them. I used him AI last year and have real nice calves out of him. On my cows I saw some bw difference, but mainly because of some of the cows I bred him to carry bw no matter what you breed him to.

Whoever buys your heifers should be real satisfied with what they get.

Thanks for your repies everyone, I hope they calve easy for the
rancher who buys the heifers. We don't have any bw problems in any
of our cows so I would think they'd be fine. They are a little more
'beefy' looking than most heifer bulls, but so smooth and low birth
weights. I usually do pretty good picking heifer bulls, so we'll see.
Bruce Ketchum is an ABS rep and he says that calves born to heifers
are usually 10 lbs. lighter than calves born to cows out of the same
bulls.

I should probably learn to keep my mouth shut but I don't like the front ends on any of the first three, I actually like the forth one the best looking at the photos, I bet he's the soundest of the four. A little extra set to the rear legs can be a good thing in bulls that need to cover big country.

You don't need to keep your mouth shut. If you post pictures on this
forum you better be prepared for what ya get thrown at you.

There aren't four bulls, there are only 3. 1 and 3 are of the
same bull.

So, Ned, tell me more about the front ends. What do you not like?
I'm being serious here. Never too old to learn. And why do you think
the bull you like is going to be the most sound?

FH: The bulls look fine to me. They look smooth enough to use on heifers. I don't believe you need a real narrow fronted bull to get calving ease.

Sic'em reds: Is there any specific reason why you didn't want to double up 6595?
