A friend of ours called Bell about not showing the NFR,apparently it was blocked in Canada cause the media powers that be wouldn't pay for it to be shown....

thats too bad, cuz Canada was well represented in Vegas.................
maybe they ought to contact Sears, Cassidy,Haye, & etc. for some funds :wink: .......guessin close to 1/2 a mill US $ crossed the border.........
 
Normally I'm not much of a fan of ropers--but I think the one I was happiest to see win the world was Stran Smith....Ouite a comeback he's had from having a stroke when in his 20's- which they were not sure he could/would recover his physical ability again... It was a close race and he only won by about $2000...

Besides that he's got an awful cute announcer wife :wink: - who about lip locked the skin off his face after she heard he'd won the average and the world and they were $45,000 richer....
 
I was happy for Stran as well. He didn't even seem to be in the picture all week but just kept his head down and roped.

Maybe all of us that E mailed ESPN last year complaining about the late start every night should E mail them and thank them for getting more on live. :-)

Got done watching the last round yesterday-I thought Dusty LaValley had a good solid NFR for his first trip. Nice to see Rod Hay stick it to Miss Congeniality on the last day-he was pretty sore at Calgary even-alot of ice on him in the dressing room. How about Grated Coconut for athlete of the year-he owned Will Lowe in round ten. Be interesting to know exactly how many horses are Canadian there-alot of US giuuys buy them up here.
