New Orleans police are investigating the shooting death of a 29-year-old man in the Hollygrove neighborhood late Wednesday night. He was the fourth shooting victim to die in about six hours.
Police responded to the shooting, which happened about 11 p.m. in the 4000 block of Hamilton Street, according to Officer Garry Flot, a department spokesman. They found the victim suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim's name has been withheld pending notification of his family.
The deadly evening began just after 5 p.m. when police were called to the scene of a double shooting in the 7th Ward. Martin Howard, 26, and Eugene Miller IV, 35, were gunned down in the 1900 block of Lapeyrouse Street.
About four hours later, police were called to the scene of a deadly shooting in the St. Roch neighborhood. About 9:15 p.m. a 53-year-old man was found in the 2200 block of Urquhart Street suffering from several gunshot wounds. He died at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.
