Hey Lazy Ace and TTB, I heard some good news about you and your
cattle yesterday. Are you going to share it with us, or are you going to
leave it up to me?

BTW, you know how much I liked that bull from the start!!!!!

Congratulations on the sale of the heifer!!!!!!!1

Thank you for the complements....

Yes, it's been an exciting week around our house.

The North Dakota Red Select Sale, managed by BRG, was this past weekend. Our offering was choice of 2 bred heifers and choice of 2 heifer calves.

Our bred heifer sold very well, to Stevenson-Basin, in Montana. This is her picture, she is sired by OHRR Dakota Copper 29K.

She was the second high selling lot behind a really nice fall cow-calf pair consigned by Weidenbach's, also from South Dakota.

Our heifer calf was the third high selling lot, selling to Ludvigson Stock Farm in Cushing, Iowa. She is sired by Brown Vacation. Here she is:

We're very humbled by how well our heifers sold. I'd like to personally thanks Doug Stevenson and Ludvigson's for buying our consignments. They are both great operations, and we're glad our heifers are going to good homes, and hope they will do well for their new owners.

We'd also like to thank BRG for running a first class sale.

The ABS news FH refers to is that we sold one of our bulls, BHR Golden Boy 453B to them---they called yesterday and will be sending the contract.
Here is his pic as a two year old:

Again, thanks for the nice complements.

Cheers---

feeder...I think we have a steer or two out of him, but I sure hope that the fellas are still swimming! Good one---but I think we still have the upper hand in the prank playing. 'Course you're much sweeter than we are too!

Cheers---

Thanks BRG...weren't trying to be sneaky....just didn't know when/if it'd be a done deal. You know those semen companies are pretty coy about what they're doing!

Again, thanks for managing a good sale.

Good lookin' cattle. I REALLY like the looks of the bull. :D

And OT if you use a red bull on black cows, your still going to get black calves, as long as your cows are ALL angus.

Heck I used a black bull on black cows and got red calves but they sold right with the blacks good cattle are worth money no matter what color.

Thank you all for the nice words. We're proud of them, and it was very hard to let them go, but we'll breed more (hopefully!) and did retain a flush interest in them both, so should they turn into good mommas, we can hopefully get some of their genetics back in our herd.

I need to apologize to four folks who I forgot to thank in my first message  the heifer sale would not have been nearly the success it was without BRG (who I remembered!) and his crew (who I forgot  !) of: Kyle Gilchrest who auctioned the sale; and ringmen Terry Robinson (Farmer & Ranch Guide) and Wade Moser (ND Stockmen's Assn.) It takes two to tango at an auction, and I'd also like to thank the contending bidder---the same North Dakota breeder in both cases.

OT: Yes the brand is Broken Heart, and that's our ranch too. Try the red ones, I bet they sell just as good as the blacks...just ask Murray Dignans. Plus you'll get mostly black anyhow!

The bull is an easy keeping rascal, maybe the most easy keeping we've ever raised. He looks like his pic year round. We're hoping his females keep as easy as he does!

NR: You might hate it when your competition buys good ones, but your company wouldn't come look at him! Your guys got a good 'un in your Herf, so I'd say it's an even trade here on ranchers  Congrats to you too!

Cheers---

TTB

Congrats on the bull! Looks like a dandy, Lazy Ace posted him before and I thought he was a stud! He should be a great asset to the breed and ABS.

It is interesting that BHR Logan 734 always seems to show up in the cattle you've posted. He seems to pass on his good looks!
