#NeverTrump movement died in Cleveland last night
By Thomas Lifson
It’s black outfits today for the mourners of the passing of the #NeverTrump movement. After last night’s votes in the Rules Committee of the Republican Nartional Convention, the dream of a nominee with a name other than Trump is dead. James Arkin writes at RealClearPolitics:

A long-shot, last-ditch attempt by a few Republican delegates to prevent Donald Trump from securing the GOP nomination failed by an overwhelming margin late Thursday night.

Some anti-Trump delegates on the Republican National Convention Rules Committee sought a strategy to unbind convention delegates, allowing them to vote their conscience against Trump even if they were bound to him by primary results. Delegates loyal to Trump and the Republican National Committee fought back by proposing a counter-measure to clarify that all delegates are bound to vote based on the primary results.

The votes came near the end of a marathon 14-hour session of the rules committee to set any changes ahead of next week’s convention to officially nominate Trump as the Republican presidential candidate. The first vote, on the pro-Trump measure to keep delegates bound, passed easily, 87 to 12.

Other votes followed, with the voice margin being so obvious that no roll call was called for. The NeverTrumpers got their moment onstage, said their piece, and lost. The sole hope is for a vote permitting a minority report to be debated on the convention floor. But apparently that would require a massive change in voting patterns on the Rules Committee. The corpse may be twitching, but it's dead.

To me the interesting question is what portion of the NeverTrumpers will actively work to defeat Trump?

Is I-told-you-so worth the price of a Hillary presidency?

2.0........another person who votes for New York liberals, just like his pal from Glasgow, 1.0.

My person in DC isn't busy deleting emails, strongarming the AG, committing rape or fraud, nor is she a material witness in a $250 million tax evasion scam.

The more 2.0 railed against 1.0, the more they were really 2 peas in a pod. 1.0 confesses to committing insurance fraud, and 2.0 can't wait to vote for a New York liberal who's accused of fraud. What a pair....joined at the hip.

Keep telling yourself that, 2.0. Bottom line, you're no more conservative than your hero and brother from a different mother, the azzhoe from Glasgow, good ol' 1.0.

A lying New York liberal is a lying New York liberal. No difference in the two.

Better get busy putting a packet together on your boy Pence, bless his heart. Seems like he likes to use campaign funds to pay his mortgage.

Says 2.0, who's "really quite selfservative".

I'm going to cast a vote for a Christian conservative who follows the Constitution. That's more than you can say. Drumpf can't even spell "Constitution".

Looking like Cruz will be smart enough to vote against Hillary. The Bush's, probably not.

Sen. Ted Cruz announced he will speak at the convention last week. "Donald asked me to speak at the Republican convention and I told him I'd be happy to do so," he told reporters.
