The lil buggers have made homes in the eves of our shop and barn, and one family moved into our entry way to the basement last year. The babies are the ones in the entry way lol.

many years ago, when we first moved to the ranch, the entire roof of the house was lined with these same "apartments".......hubby really did not seem to mind them, but they have since moved one...guess the hubbub and commotion from 4 kids scared them off!!

I'm not really fond of birds to begin with, but barn swallows I REALLY don't like. When greg and I first moved to his parents place the house didn't have front stairs, the barn swallows would build nests under the front door! We built a deck there and the birds were downright indignant, and persistant.Every time we went out onto deck the little stinkers would swoop right at us  We'd knock down the nests, they'd rebuild,it took us three years before they quit building off the front deck....now they're where they belong, the old barn!!!And now I think they're kinda cute!

They used to drive my folks nuts... But after watching them this spring litterly fly up to a screen window and pick flies off it I kind of have the feeling of the more the merrier.. Keep meaning to put up Martin houses and the like... Strange, at the old house we had 100's of them every year but over here, we just dont have the numbers.

Barn swallows are one of my favorite birds just because of all the bugs that they eat . They are just not welcome inside of my shop. They are welcome everywhere else, I like to sit and watch them catching bugs.

I love Swallows. They are worth their weight in gold, just for the skeeters they eat.

I've heard if you want them to nest by your barn, to keep a mud hole for them, for building material.

Mr and Mrs Jinglebob Jr are fixing up the old house we used to live in and there are several swallows with nests in and around the house. Mrs JB Jr doesn't lke them very well. I just smile and tell her to remember all them bugs they are eating.

Of course, I could live with about any kind of animal, easier than a human.
