New camera

When we visited our friends in Washington state last August,
I complained about my digital camera not having a viewfinder and
in bright sunlight, I couldn't see what I was taking a picture of.

Well, the guys came here to hunt deer and they brought us a
new digital camera!!! It's a Cannon PowerShot SD 1200 with
A VIEWFINDER. I can hardly wait to try it out.

One thing I noticed, the battery is square shaped, not AA battery
powered. Does the square battery have advantages over the AA
rechargable ones? And will I need to purchase an extra battery?

On that 1200 model there should be a removable shield that exposes a small crank handle for recharging the battery, usually on the lower left side of the camera.

Yep, found it...so do you think I don't need an additional battery?
I hate getting into the middle of something and find the battery
is low...or gone...but I don't know about the square batteries.
Do they last longer???

Any other little 'tricks' to this camera that I should know about...
withour reading?  :p I hate reading those BORING
instructions...

Cool FH, now you know we'll be looking forward to some photos from you, don't you?!?

If it were me, I'd get a second battery. Even with that recharge gadget. Seriously does that work?

Cheers---

TTB

I have a canon model 1200-A and the crank is on the right side, the only other trick i can think of without reading a bunch of the boring manual is the faster you crank it the better it will zoom,I got mine to about 20X once.
good luck

Welcome back!!!

I heard the rumors that a couple good lookin women were trackin me,I guess I need to say my computers stay on 24/7 and macon has been kind enough to let a few of these ole geezers register and post from here,I sure dont mind as long as its civil and no profanity, with that said the farrier forum that some thought i jumped ship to is nowhere as kind,so we all sign in as Haymaker for advice and i do promote the good luck wish at the end of posts, always made me feel good to wish folks good luck and its something i encourage,SO girls.................................see what you get for stalking cowboys
good luck

PS If you read my last post I said I have a couple miles of fence to patch/rebuild,still gotta few gates to build/hang.

Thanks Haymaker, I'd forgotten that feature.

We were worried about you, thought you were living in Comfort on Welfare again.
