Folks-

It looks like there’s a new ethanol mouthpiece in Washington who call themselves the “Renewable Fuels Now Coalition.” They even have a shiny new professional website and a push poll out.

So what’s the big deal? Because it’s just the Renewable Fuels Association and Archer’s Daniel Midland in sheep’s clothing. RFA is a member and the two groups share the same press contact. It’s even housed in the same complex as the Ethanol Promotion and Information Council another group backed by big ethanol agribusiness.

So it’s not surprising that this group is putting gout the same old BS and empty promises that RFA has pumped out for years. The group’s first action was to put out a push poll intended to mislead the press and the American public. The poll makes it sound like the entire US is ready to plow over cities and plant corn from coast to coast for ethanol. But it’s impossible to find the poll’s actual questions or full results. We’re only getting what they want the public to see. I’d bet the pollster never told respondents that their grocery bills would go up because of all this new corn ethanol. That probably explains why the media has barely covered it to date-it’s cooked news.

If this new group and its information is so groundbreaking, why the game of hide and seek? C’mon Mr. Dineen-you can do better than this.

A new name doesn’t change the fact that there are serious questions about the safety and efficiency of ethanol. Blind production is driving up corn and feed prices to new highs, and we’re not stopping to think about the effect on America’s ranchers.
