lol sw. That was a good one. lol. I sure hope montanacowgurl doesn't see this... or the missuns for that matter-Takeit from em-get flowers and hoope they don't see this, and if they do, you'll be sleeping in the doghouse. lol. Or the corral. If you're lucky the couch. lol. Then make 'em breakfast-not toast either. I have used this method with mom for a while-it works. Say I Screwed up. lol. They will make you say it over and over, but hey, would you rather sleep outside? lol.

working an overtime night shift and the poems from you two have simply made my night!! I can nod my head to both of them....seen wayyyyy too much of the green and white lately (still am, but hopefully gone by this saturday's branding!! ) and most certainly heard the hubby yelling "over the bellering of the cattle"....uh huh....SURE, sw!!

When you’re sortin’ cattle
use some restraint,
when your sweetie is helpin’,
or you’ll find she ain’t.

That goes for daughters,
and Blue Heelers too.
If you holler at them,
they’ll walk out on you.

I guess this time of the year when you get to go to others places and help them work their cattle, you get to see how the others do it. I guarantee things don't always go as smooth as one would wish, throw in a little of that white and green when you got work to do and every family will have a tiff or two. That is another reason to always work in the back, ain't that right JB?

I enjoyed your poem this morning Jinglebob. I had some tough news before I went to bed last night and your poem helped lift my spirits this morning. Thank you. I am not a poet and have a tough time putting my thoughts to paper. This morning I tried to do it in the simplest way and used your poem for inspiration.

Before I laid my weary body down
Early in the night
I gazed through my window
Into the waning light

The world seemed so dark and gray
I felt that way myself
Maybe a little rest will bring
More colors off the shelf

My day had been a long one
So many pieces didn’t fit
And though often discouraged
I had refused to quit

When I awoke this morning
Much to my delight
The world had changed from shades of gray
To a brilliant green and white

Mother nature had worked her magic
Painting while I had slept
She put a gleam in these tired eyes
That the night before had wept

The weight lifted from my shoulders
Mother nature had made it right
And changed my world from shades of gray
To a brilliant green and white

Great poem fedup. I think it's about time for another one fro you. Or maybe 3 or 4.

Glad mine helped a little.

Sometimes we just need to get a fresh look at things and most times, they ain't as bad as they seem.Every cloud has a silver lining and a door never shuts that another one doesn't open.

I always remind myself about when I had to sell my cows, to buy this place. Sure wasn't easy seeing them going thru' the ring. As it turned out, I sold on the high end of the market and if I hadn't I probably would have been forced to sell them later and maybe lost the place. A wise old Mexican once said, "Everything happens for the best". As long as I remember that and believe it, life is pretty good. :)

Thank you for the kind words all. Some days, the light at the end of the tunnel always seems to turn out to be a train heading my direction. I had reached the point where I wouldn't dare to ask for a break because I was afraid it would be a compound fracture!
I realized this morning that although there will be more changes in my life, there is still life to be enjoyed. Thanks again and have a great week.
