New Poll Numbers

Today on Fox News--new poll numbers:

OBAMA 46%
MCAIN 46%

and that was before McCain was willing to give up campaigning
to go to Washington to weigh in on the economic crisis.

The commentators said it woud take 24 hours for that to reflect in the polls but that should help McCain.

We know FOX will do all they can to help McCain.

But here's something from FOX with an ACTUAL LINK.

I didn't read all that--too much cutting and pasting.
Can't you make it less wordy--meaning just give me the gist
of what it says? You know, CONDENSE IT?

Actually, you really needn't bother. I saw what I saw on television.
And I can't wait for the poll report for tomorrow.

Polls can vary greatly, and should always be taken with a grain of salt, but the most accurate one IMO is the Rasmussen Poll. This morning they had it 49-46 Obama.

Barack Obama took a 4-point lead over John McCain in Gallup’s daily tracking poll Thursday, the first time the Democratic presidential candidate has broken a statistical tie since the Republican National Convention two weeks ago.

Polls are interesting aren't they? Odd that each one is different,
I view them all with skeptism as in the end they have been very,
very wrong numerous times. I don't even know why we have polls.
Maybe it gets more folks out to vote. :p

I mentioned Gallop poll only because several here have been gloating
or misled about poll numbers. One doesn't mean anything because another comes along with different numbers.

But if polls make YOU feel good...feel free to watch and report them. :p

The black leaders are starting to say if Obama is not up by 7 points he is a loser.

History has shown that if a Democrat is winning in polls by as much as 15% they are not secure. Just look at both past President Bush's the father and the son.

Polls almost always favor democrats and liberals by the margin of error. Just pick a poll and research it and the easy money is on that more Democrats were polled than Republican.

My theory is because most republicans are busy working while Democrats are more likely to be talking on the phone.

You were the one who put the poll info out here. If you look at them honestly, the national polls are not so different. Obama has been slowly gaining ground. This financial crisis has helped him. He's stayed quiet and steady while McCain's dramatic rush to DC, with Letterman taunting him on national TV, will he debate or won't he trick, IMO, have hurt McCain. He's being seen as flailing around in an effort to gain some traction. Palin's approvals are down, disapprovals are way up and that's starting to come back and haunt him.

If polls are important to you, you need to look at who they're polling. Often supporters of one candidate or another leave that part out. Sometimes they poll only registered voters, sometimes only people who are likely to vote, sometimes anyone who answers the phone.

But mostly you need to stop taking FOX news seriously.

Oops. It looks like the polls I listed above were from yesterday (Thursday). Here are the ones from today (Friday). Use the same link.

Gallup: Obama 48%, McCain 45%, with a ±2% margin of error. Yesterday, the candidates were tied 46%-46%.

• Rasmussen: Obama 50%, McCain 45%, with a ±2% margin of error, compared to an Obama lead yesterday of 49%-46%.

• Hotline/Diageo: Obama 49%, McCain 42%, with a ±3.2% margin of error, compared to a 47%-43% Obama lead yesterday.

• Research 2000: Obama 48%, McCain 43%, with a ±3% margin of error. Yesterday, Obama was up 49%-43%.
