well,.. in reality the old Korean war never ended..

Next Up: A New Korean War

It certainly looks like the elite are planning a war against North Korea. Consider the following remarkable events over the last few days (h/t to Moon of Alabama for contributing).

April 2, 2013 – North Korea Says It Will Restart Reactor to Expand Arsenal

North Korea said on Tuesday that it would put all its nuclear facilities… to use in expanding its nuclear weapons arsenal, sharply raising the stakes in the escalating standoff with the United States and its allies.

April 2, 2013 – Ban Ki-Moon: North Korea On ‘Collision Course’ That Could Lead To War

The U.N. chief says he fears North Korea is on a collision course with other nations that could lead to war.

April 1, 2013 – U.S. moving key vessels nearer North Korea

As analysts try to weigh the weight in North Korea’s military posturing, the U.S. has made a show of increasing its military hardware in South Korea.

April 1, 2013 – U.S. moves missile-tracking radar platform closer to North Korea

The sea-based X-band radar is heading over from Pearl Harbor, a Pentagon official says. The John S. McCain guided missile destroyer is also being sent.

March 31, 2013 – U.S. F-22 Stealth Jets Join South’s Military Drills Amid Saber-Rattling From North

Advanced, radar-evading F-22 Raptors deployed to Osan Air Base, the main U.S. Air Force base in South Korea, from Japan to support ongoing bilateral exercises…

March 30, 2013 – U.S. denounces North Korea’s ‘bellicose rhetoric’ as Kim Jong-un’s regime issues ‘final warning’

“We take these threats seriously and remain in close contact with our South Korean allies,” White House spokeswoman Caitlin Hayden said…

March 29, 2013 – Hagel says U.S. has to take North Korean threats seriously

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said on Thursday that North Korea’s provocative actions and belligerent tone had “ratcheted up the danger” on the Korean peninsula, …

March 28, 2013 – US sends nuclear-capable B-2 bombers to SKorea

The U.S military says two nuclear-capable B-2 bombers have completed a training mission in South Korea …

The U.S. says the B-2 stealth bombers flew from a U.S. air base and dropped munitions on a South Korean island range before returning home.

March 26, 2013 – U.S. Army learns hard lessons in N. Korea-like war game

The Unified Quest war game conducted this year by Army planners posited the collapse of a nuclear-armed, xenophobic, criminal family regime that had lorded over a closed society and inconveniently lost control over its nukes as it fell. Army leaders stayed mum about the model for the game, but all indications — and maps seen during the game at the Army War College — point to North Korea.

March 20, 2013 – U.S. flies B-52s over South Korea

The U.S. Air Force is breaking out some of its heaviest hardware to send a message to North Korea.

A Pentagon spokesman said Monday that B-52 bombers are making flights over South Korea as part of military exercises this month.

March 19, 2013 – S. Korea, U.S. carry out naval drills with nuclear attack submarine

South Korean and U.S. forces have been carrying out naval drills in seas around the peninsula with a nuclear attack submarine as part of their annual exercise, military sources said Wednesday, in a show of power against North Korea’s threat of nuclear attack.

March 17, 2013 – Troops remember sacrifices of Cheonan sailors

Halfway through the around-the-clock Key Resolve drills Friday, 8th U.S. Army Commander Lt. Gen. John D. Johnson remained full of energy as he underscored that the allied forces were ready to cope with North Korean threats.

March 12, 2013 – First day of SK-US military exercises passes without provocation

Around 10,000 ROK troops and 3,000 US soldiers, including 2,500 reinforcements from US Pacific command in Hawaii, are taking part in the military exercise, which will continue through Mar. 21. Another 10,000 US soldiers will be deployed by the end of this month for the Foal Eagle exercises. Also flown in to participate in the exercises were B-52 bombers and F-22 stealth fighters, which boast the world’s highest levels of performance. These two kinds of aircraft can maneuver throughout Korean airspace without landing. In addition, the 9750t Aegis destroyers USS Lassen and USS Fitzgerald arrived in South Korea.

March 8, 2013 – Air Assault Course increase 2ID capabilities

For the first time in 15 years, 2nd Infantry Division and Eighth U.S. Army soldiers tackled the rigorous Air Assault Course at Camp Hovey, South Korea…. The course qualifies soldiers to conduct air assault and helicopter sling-load operations and proper rappelling and fast-rope techniques.

March 8, 2013 – “Frozen Chosen” Marines

Marines from I Company, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, slog through wind and snow during a joint training exercise with Japanese troops at the Hokkaido-Dai Maneuver Area in northern Japan last week.

March 6, 2013 – S. Korea says it will strike against North’s top leadership if provoked

[T]he rhetoric sets up an especially tense period on the Korean Peninsula, with the U.S. and South Korean militaries planning joint training drills that the North considers a “dangerous nuclear war” maneuver, and with the U.N. Security Council deliberating new sanctions to limit Pyongyang’s weapons program.

Meanwhile, the White House says that despite bellicose rhetoric from North Korea, the Obama administration has not seen changes in the regime's military posture.

Is the north really prepared to re-fight the Korean war or is just more talk form a madman...

or is Obama missing all the signals.. or is he as blind as a Libyan bat..

neither option is reassuring..

Is this reactor one of the two Clinton gave them in appeasement?
It was at the Geneva talks that the Clinton Administration bent over
and grabbed the ankles, despite the death of Kim Il Sung on July 8,
1994 (at which time his wacko son Kim Jong Il inherited “supreme
power”). The “Agreed Framework” was signed by the United States
and North Korea on Oct. 21, 1994 in Geneva. The Framework
promised, as Becker put it, “to reward Pyongyang’s breaches of international nuclear safeguards by giving it more nuclear power stations.” Yes, the Clinton Administration gave in to the demands
of a deceiving, nefarious, nuclear-hungry, gulag-building, peoplestarving, Communist regime.

This whole situation got me wondering what would happen if Russia conducted military exercises with Mexico every year and used nuclear submarines and bombers? Not to mention the Russian general saying the troups wre ready to kick a00 at any time? What if they said we had a crazy out of control mo46f89ker in the whitehouse that was a real threat too world peace?

I don't think we can compare Mexico to Korea.

In Korea our men fought and died to make it free, and in the last almost 60 years, many troops have served there to protect it. And even some died in the last 50 years in Korea.

Maybe Cuba might be a little closer comparison.

The US signed a mutual defense pact with South Korea long ago.

Not to mention the Mexican invasion forces that are already in place in the US.

Kim Jong Un is using propaganda and scare tactics, just like obama does. Imagine that.

April 4, 2013: The mythical North Korean “Ministry of Intimidation” is working overtime to come up with new threats each day. The government is using these threats mainly to create tension inside North Korea and more support for new ruler Kim Jong Un. This is essential this time of year because the food shortages are always worst just before new crops are planted. But it’s also the time of year when it gets warmer and the days are longer. This is a big deal because of the growing electricity shortages.

This sort of drama in North Korea is nothing new but it’s never been played this hard and long before. This theater always has a happy ending, with the third act featuring an imaginary victory for North Korea but no real change for anyone. It is all theater, backed up by the threat of violence that never becomes real. This time North Korea has got the world’s attention to an extent never seen before. For most of the planet this is all entertainment, but for most North Koreans it’s their lives, and when all the shouting is done most North Koreans are still cold, hungry, and in the dark without real prospects of much of a future. Spectacular theatrics can only do so much. The really important issue is what North Korean leaders do after the curtain comes down. What happens after the show is over? To actually go to war would be suicidal for the North Korean leadership. Most of them know that, but in the last few years more and more of them have been making preparations to flee the country. These theatrics only delay the continued decline of the economy and government ability to control the increasingly restive population. In the last year the government has promised spectacular improvements in the economy. This did not happen. Creating a state of war with the neighbors will not reverse that failure and North Koreans will still be hungry and poor when all the artificial anger and angst dissipates. The world can only wait to see how this plays out.

As in the past, what North Korea wants is more money, food, and other aid from South Korea and other wealthy nations. The North Korean threats don’t feature this angle but it’s in the small print. In effect, its extortion as in’ “if you want us to shut up, pay up.” While there is still disagreement in the North Korean leadership about how to fix the decrepit North Korean economy, it’s agreed that lots of free food, fuel, cash, and other aid would help a great deal.

If North Korea does attack, it is expected to be small scale stuff. This might include attacks (like torpedoing an American or South Korean warship) that the north could deny. If the U.S. or South Korea reacted violently to these small attacks North Korea could then declare itself the victim of unprovoked aggression and demand that the UN halt the violence and help North Korea obtain compensation.

Over the last few days many North Korean military units put on alert (meaning more busy work and less sleep) have been taken off and gone back to their usual duties (growing food or working in factories, plus training that did not involve using up fuel or spare parts).

The North Korean government is doing more local stuff to improve morale. It was recently announced that the best universities would no longer automatically accept children of the ruling elite but that admittance would be open to everyone according to their abilities, not their family background. About ten percent of North Koreans are much better off than everyone else up there. These people work for the bureaucracy, military, or security agencies and their families are considered “loyal.” Most of the rest of the population are considered members of historically “disloyal” families. The new admissions policy is a major change in the class politics that has long characterized social and economic mobility in the north. This is meant to make Kim Jong Un appear to be a reformer and someone the unhappy North Koreans can trust.

the Russians often came into our waters.. mostly with Nuclear submarines.. and often did bomber over-flights.

sometimes the submirines made it a point to surface.. especially if it was in the path of US re-fueling..

When it did happen.. we dealt with it,.. mostly with diplomacy..

Over my years I have seem plenty of Russian war ships.. even in our waters.

The Russians did alot that was never reported..

and while we don't have a crazy .. out of control ... m.. f

we do have an inept community organizer and a VP who is bound to say something really stupid at any minute.. :?

just to follow up and show how much Russia does the same today and we still try to seek cooperation and disarmament..

The bomber targeting of U.S. missile defenses also followed stepped up Russian bomber activities targeting other U.S. missile defense sites, including ground-based interceptors in Alaska and California. A large-scale Russian military exercise in the Arctic in June included flights by two Tu-95 Bear bombers that Russian military officials said had simulated attacks on U.S. missile defenses in Alaska.

Another pair of Tu-95s flew on July 4 the closest to the California coast that a Russian bomber had flown since the days of the Soviet Union, when strategic bomber flights near U.S. coasts were a routine feature of the Cold War.

Russian targeting of missile defenses also comes as Moscow’s GRU military intelligence announced April 1 that it would deploy a new reconnaissance ship in the Pacific to spy on U.S. missile defenses in Alaska and Hawaii.

the article is interesting and worth reading..
http://freebeacon.com/russian-bomber-roulette/

this one line stood out.. and shows how naive Obama is and how shrewd the Russians are..

The Russians are opposed to placing interceptors in Europe and claim the missile will be used against Russian offensive missiles.

who is naive enough to not understand the implications of that poster?

of course our missile defense is against offensive misled strikes by any nation against US or our allies.. and only a country willing to strike US would be concerned about their placement..

yet liberals.. (Obama) gave in..

the Pentagon announced last month it is scrapping plans for a high-powered variant of the Navy’s SM-3 missile interceptor called the Block IIB. The cancellation was widely viewed as a concession to Russia.

thanks to Obama's concessions.. the cold war just heated up again..
