Nice Baldies!!!

I went over to a neighbors today and looked over his cowherd and has he ever got a great set of Galloway/Hereford baldy first calvers. They are thick and long and super haired-he's got a real good set of Horned Hereford cows and that cross worked well. He's going back on them with a Black Angus bull and selling all the calves. If you didn't know different you couldn't tell them from regular baldies except the better haircoat. Quite frankly they were better than I thought they'd be. He gave me a chance to flush his best Hereford cow-a 13 year old with a perfect udder and feet- so I had a pretty productive morning. Next time I'll pack my camera along and take some pics. Maybe old Krazy Kaiser is on too something heaven forbid.

We have a bunch of what I assume are Welsh Black or Galloway cattle in the feedlot, and some of them are pretty impressive beef machines! They are thick, long, and have packed on the pounds, and of course when the other cattle are feeling the cold, these hairy guys are quite comfy. I'd like a bit of that hair coat on our angus cattle, but haven't quite convinced hubby!
