No descendants?

How can the libs not care that the future generations are going to have to pay the price for all this money going over seas? The only thing I can figure is that they have no descendants.

My ancestors fought and some died to get this country to the point it is. Now the government is totally disrespecting the Constitution of the United States. What does the future hold? Who cares? I care. I have children and grandchildren.

Today's poor have shelters. Soup kitchens. Doctors in emergency rooms who cannot turn them away. THese luxuries did not exist when the constitution was framed. The people who framed the constitution were doers. No whiners. Their life expectancy was about half of what ours is.

Jeeze. The gall of you people who ignored George W. Bush listening in on private conversations, lying to the American public, claiming authorities that were not set in the Constitition, while he sent billions of $$ to Iraq and the corrupt government of Pakistan, killed as many as a million Iraqi citizens, and are now bitching and moaning because this government wants to spend money on the AMERICAN PEOPLE, to repair the damage visited on this country by Republican/Conservatives for the last eight years! There's no icon here to express my disgust with all of you.

And the gall of you saying nothing while Obama listens in on private conversations, lies to the American public, claiming authorities that are not set in the Constitution, while sending billions of $$ to Afghanistan and killing innocent citizens. Is there an icon to express your disgust with yourself? Is there a "Damn, I'm a flipping hypocrite" icon that you're looking for?

I can't do anything to reunite this country. Republicans can. Birthers can. Rush Limbaugh might be able to. Rick Perry might help if he'd stop pandering to the right wingers about an "independent Texas." It's people like you who are splitting the country apart by refusing to accept the November election. Ann Coulter, Beck, Dobbs, any of those Conservative hacks who continually preach hate could do more than the liberals.

But I do think you way overestimate the split in ths country. Polls still show Obama's personal approval is pretty good. Congressional Democrats still get better ratings than Republicans. It seems to be the LOSERS in the last election who are moaning and groaning about the split in the country.

Yep--fff-- but these same folks that scream now that the government is trying to build US infrastructure- and give programs to assist US citizens to go back to work--- all sat on their hands- and did nothing while GW raped and pillaged the country- and emptied the countries pocketbook to funnel it to his buddies at Halliburton/KBR/etal-- so they could steal it playing in a sandpit....

I was waiting to see if any of the rightwingernuts would post this article- but didn't think so-- it brings into question their precious GW, the Republican Party that let him run wild and unquestioned, and the corporate looting of the taxpayer/citizens he promoted....

U.S. Army paid bonuses to KBR despite deaths
Wed May 20, 2009 3:50pm EDT

By Thomas Ferraro

WASHINGTON, May 20 (Reuters) - The U.S. Army paid $83.4 million in bonuses to KBR Inc. (KBR.N), its biggest contractor in Iraq, despite accusations its wiring work has been linked to the electrocution of at least four soldiers and one contractor, a congressional investigative panel said on Wednesday.

The Senate Democratic Policy Committee said it also determined that more than half of the bonuses -- $48.9 million -- were awarded after the Defense Department sounded an alarm in early 2007 about what the panel described as pervasive problems with KBR.

Chairman Byron Dorgan opened the hearing by ripping into the Houston-based company and accusing the Army of "stunning incompetence" in rewarding it for its work.

The Senate Democratic Policy Committee is the research arm of the Senate Democratic leadership and conducts investigations of its own.

Dorgan said his panel's probe "led us to internal Pentagon documents showing that in 2007 and 2008, KBR received bonuses of $83.4 million for work that, according to the Pentagon's own investigation, led to the electrocution deaths of U.S. troops."

The Army declined to attend the hearing but submitted a written statement in which it said bonuses to KBR had been halted pending a review.

Nope. It's people like you who throw out scare lies, pass on emails that are lies that divide the country.

The last poll I saw showed him at 55%. He only won 53% of the vote. Let's see 55 is more than 53. Wow! Considering the big projects he's taken on, he will lose support. If the economy does start to pick up, he'll be ok. If the economy is still a mess in 2012, he'll be in trouble.

you've got to be a little smarter than that fff. He started off with more support than voted for him too.

to make your statement true you would have to know what % of the 55% actually voted in the election.

I don't doubt you could. For sure the $80million spent on investigating the Clinton's from practically the first day he took office was wasted. How many hours in Iraq would $80 mill pay for?

And Republicans were in charge of Congress for most of Clinton's term.

Did you see this?

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission plans to issue a report next month suggesting speculators played a significant role in driving wild swings in oil prices -- a reversal of an earlier CFTC position that augurs intensifying scrutiny on investors.

In a contentious report last year, the main U.S. futures-market regulator pinned oil-price swings primarily on supply and demand. But that analysis was based on "deeply flawed data," Bart Chilton, one of four CFTC commissioners, said in an interview Monday.

The CFTC's new review, due to be released in August, adds fuel to a growing debate over financial investors who bet on the direction of commodities prices by buying contracts tied to indexes. These speculators have invested hundreds of billions of dollars in contracts that were once dominated by producers and consumers who sought to hedge against oil-market volatility.....

Finally someone is going to look at the speculators who caused that $4 gasoline. Think of the $$ millions Americans could have been spending on other stuff, or even saving, instead of putting it into the gas tank to get to work. Grrr.

Yep-- but when Congress and even many of the Repub Congressmen voted for a bill to shut down that runaway Speculation--guess who threatened to Veto it- and came to the Repub Congressmen and got them to switch their vote...

GW could have cared less if the common folks were suffering as long as his wealthy and elitist friends were profiteering....

Frankie, you really need to look in the mirror before you post.

Give me a break. You should be ashamed of yourself.

For most part between 1995 and 2007, the Republicans controlled both houses. In the wake of the unpopularity of President Clinton's impeachment trial, the 107th Congress (2001-2003) saw the Democrats and Republicans split control of the US Senate 50-50, ending effectively tied;[63] Despite this gain in the Senate for the Democrats, Republican George W Bush would go on to defeat Democrat nominee Al Gore (who arguably lost some appeal among the general public by refusing to let Clinton campaign on his behalf)[64][65][66] would go on to win the 2000 US Presidential Election by a narrow margain. As a result of Bush's victory, Republican Vice-President Dick Cheney did have the tie breaking vote in the Senate during the first four months of 2001 as well. In May 2001, Republican US Senator from the state of Vermont, Jim Jeffords, ended his affiliation with the Republican Party, following a disptue with Bush's tax cut proposals,[67] and became an Independent.[68] After departing from the Republican Party, Jeffords also agreed to caucus with the Democrats and control of the Senate switched back to the Democrats once again.[69]

The 108th Congress (2003-2005) saw the Senate return to a GOP majority of 51-49, as Republican President George W Bush had gained some popularity for his fight against Al Qaeda terrorists.[70] In 2006, opposition to Bush's continuation of the Iraq War had grown to new heights.[71] As a result, the 110th Congress saw the Democrats regain majority control of both the United States Senate and United States House of Representatives.[71]
