House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) will not allow a vote next week on legislation that would grant legal status to young illegal immigrants who serve in the military, according to a spokesman.

The announcement came hours after The Hill reported that Rep. Jeff Denham (R-Calif.) on Friday would file an amendment offering the legal status to illegal immigrants to the 2015 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The amendment is known as the ENLIST Act.

“No proposed ENLIST amendments to NDAA will be made in order,” Doug Heye told The Hill via email..

I guess to me- if you are going to offer legal status to anyone- it would be those that agreed to serve an honorable enlistment in the military...But I suppose the rich and elites cheap maids, nannies, poolboys, and gardeners come first...

Granting a blanket citizenship authority to illegal immigrants in the military would definitely be a way for the Cartels, MS-13, & Al Qaeda to infiltrate the U.S. Defense Forces.

All dominant nations have historically imploded from within.

The FBI has released a new gang assessment announcing that there are 1.4 million gang members in the US, a 40 percent increase since 2009, and that many of these members are getting inside the military.

The report says the military has seen members from 53 gangs and 100 regions in the U.S. enlist in every branch of the armed forces. Members of every major street gang, some prison gangs, and outlaw motorcycle gangs (OMGs) have been reported on both U.S. and international military installations.

From the report:

Through transfers and deployments, military-affiliated gang members expand their culture and operations to new regions nationwide and worldwide, undermining security and law enforcement efforts to combat crime. Gang members with military training pose a unique threat to law enforcement personnel because of their distinctive weapons and combat training skills and their ability to transfer these skills to fellow gang members.

The report notes that while gang members have been reported in every branch of service, they are concentrated in the U.S. Army, Army Reserves, and the Army National Guard.

Many street gang members join the military to escape the gang lifestyle or as an alternative to incarceration, but often revert back to their gang associations once they encounter other gang members in the military. Other gangs target the U.S. military and defense systems to expand their territory, facilitate criminal activity such as weapons and drug trafficking, or to receive weapons and combat training that they may transfer back to their gang. Incidents of weapons theft and trafficking may have a negative impact on public safety or pose a threat to law enforcement officials.

The FBI points out that many gangs actively recruit members with military training and advise young members with no criminal record to join the service for weapon access and combat experience.

Bills Open Military to Some Illegal Immigrants

Military.com Jan 16, 2014 | by Bryant Jordan

Lawmakers meeting with military recruiting officials on Thursday said they support efforts to open up the armed services to men and women who were brought into the country illegally, but as children.

Reps. Mike Coffman, R-Colo., and Jeff Denham, R-Calif., both have bills that would give this group of men and women a chance to serve and go on to legal permanent residency and apply for citizenship, the Congressmen testified at a hearing of the House Armed Services Committee's military personnel panel.

"I'm worried that the future pool of recruits may not be able to maintain the elite standards that we've established," said Coffman, a former Army soldier and Marine Corps officer. "Factors such as an improving economy, cultural changes, and how a generation views the military service, or when our nation is engaged in conflicts that, quite frankly, lack popular support – all these factors can contribute to the numbers of qualified applicants applying to be in our military."

Denham noted that many military age men and women arrived in the U.S. as kids, through no fault of their own.

"For the many thousands of undocumented immigrants who graduated from our public and private high schools each year, military service would offer an avenue for them to serve the United States and earn a legal status in the country they love," said Denham, who served 16 years in the Air Force and Air Force Reserve.

Denham said he joined the military at 17, while still in high school. In the military he met a number of Filipinos who joined up and later became citizens.

Sounds to me like the perfect way to show your respect and appreciation to the country that raised you...
As long as the recruitment standards aren't lowered- shouldn't be any problem with cartel or gang members...Might straighten a few borderline kids out... Put them on the line to allow them to become good citizens down the line...

In the old days there were plenty of kids that were given the choice- enlist or go to jail- that came back lot better citizens...

We have lost our minds concerning the military. It is not a "social experiment". It is a place for patriotic young MEN to prepare to defend our nation against any and all forces that would attempt to do us harm.

It is not for "nation building" in far away countries. It is not for tracking down kidnappers in a far way place. It is not for legitimatization of homosexuality.

It is meant to be a place of structure and self-dicipline. It is not a democracy. It is not a place for putting young men and women into intimate spaces and then being shocked when "sexual harassment" takes place.

It doesn't matter if men use politically incorrect words in the course of being fighting men. It is a place for men to toughen-up and be men, not some kind of screwballs who think they are actually women.

We must be out of our minds to have created the mess that we now call the military.

At least, that's how this old sailor sees it.

or if some liberal politician is just trying to make points with illegals..

Military Forced to Get Picky in Recruiting

Army Sgt. 1st Class Terrence Hoard must reach potential recruits early to set them straight.

They think anybody can enlist. Many see the military as a last resort in a tough job market -- but always an option, the youth assume. Truth is, the class of 2014 now leaving high school will face more difficulty qualifying for the armed services than ever in the 40-year history of the all-volunteer force.

So Hoard tells them long before graduation day: Don't ever get caught with a joint. Work out, shed weight. And be extra careful about getting tattooed.

"We're turning down twice as many as before," said Hoard, who supervises the Army recruiting station in Grandview.

What does this spell for America's young adults, ages 17 to 24, already buffeted by 14 percent unemployment and ever soaring college costs?

"There will be fewer opportunities in military service, as there have been in the overall economy," Byrd said.

And fewer young veterans means less opportunity to have college costs covered by GI benefits.
