Well they've already called off school here and in surrounding towns for tomorrow. We're expecting freezing rain/sleet durin the night. Bout time they used their head. Usually they wait till half the kids are AT SCHOOL to call it off...then you hafta make a trip back to town to pick your kids up. :?

Forecast is the same for several days..wonder if they'll continue no school after tomorrow? LOL

I'll prolly have my coveralls on..but I won't be choppin any ice for cows .....it would take a good while of cold weather for the tanks to freeze. Right now they are steamin cuz their temp is so much warmer than the outside air temps. Only choppin that'll take place is Lil Lilly and her horses water trough.

Yeah that was the rule up home to....In my entire school years in South Dakota (grade school to college = 17 years) even at the country school 50 miles from civilization....I bet school was only cancled maybe 10 times total from weather.

This weather is going to be hard on the cows. 40 and a light rain right now with colder predicted for tomorrow. Berrrrrrr Y'all can keep this weather in Texas please.
Yesterday was wonderfull. 70 and we set on the swing wearing a T shirt and watched the sun set. We turned the cows in on the rye patch that was knee deep and bright green. Now this morning it is raining and I had to break out a coat. It was still wraped up in the cleaners bag from where I had it cleaned last March and put it up for the winter. At least it will be over in about 60 days and the corn will get planted

Deal here used to be that the bus drivers had discretion to cancel buses, but if they cancelled, the owners got paid but the drivers didn't. Result was that the buses hardly ever got cancelled. Now they renegotiated and the drivers get paid whether they go or not and the buses are cancelled 10-12 days a year.

Our lil school K-12 of 150 students, majority of which ride the bus. I don't think it was so much the ice they were really worried about, but the water that's been over the roads for the last two days. Our school owns the buses they run. And with probably 70% of the kids livin out of town there wouldnt be much point in havin school with the 30% that could get there.

Yep- And it takes a combination of a blizzard, tornado, tsunami, and hurricane to cancel/postpone a basketball tournament

Thats still the rule here Dale...stupid,last week when we had the blizzard the school buses still ran, then they had to take the kids back home an hour later...I don't have any kids in school anymore but my kids would NOT have been put on the bus. Even our health unit was put into emergency and we ran with a skeleton crew, don't understand why the school and buses never close down

So....least whatever we find to do tomorrow we'll be doin it allllll together LOL

We have bad weather days scheduled in as well. Not very often do they use them, but they go to school those days if they don't use them.
