Husband Leaves Burglar Hogtied In Front Yard, Heads To Work

It’s not just that the homeowner bum-rushed a housebreaker and took him down. The beauty of the story is that, because he had to go to work, and wasn’t going to let a little thing like a robber in his house slow him down, the homeowner hog-tied the guy and left him on the front lawn for police to collect.

It all happened in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Houston. Wednesday morning, at about 6 a.m., the Houstons heard breaking glass right outside their daughter’s bedroom. Mrs. Houston said to her husband, “A raccoon didn’t do that,” and Mr. Houston responded “Oh, God!”

The Houstons then heard a rustling sound inside the garage as someone headed to their front door. Mr. Houston went to the front door and, in Mrs. Houston’s words, “He waited for him to come out and then he bum-rushed him.” As far as Mrs. Houston is concerned, when it comes to her husband, “He’s like a superhero.”

Mr. Houston didn’t stop with taking down the robber, a man named Robert Cole. In addition, he hogtied him with his hands and feet behind his back. Then, because he had to go to work, he dumped Cole on the front lawn, called 911, told his wife to wait for the police, and headed off.

Speaking to the press later, Mrs. Houston couldn’t have been more proud of her husband or excited by events. “I was like, ‘That’s my man!’ I was really proud of him.” Still, “I got adrenaline running through me like nobody’s business right now, and being nine months pregnant doesn’t help any.” Her husband was a whole different story. For Mr. Houston, it was just about getting down to business. “That’s just the type of person he is, you know? That’s just the type of person he is. Business is business. ‘I got to take care of business, he’s safe, the police are coming, I got to go.’”

As for Cole, police say that he seemed to be under the influence of drugs when they arrived. They charged him with first degree burglary and he’s currently being held in Tulsa County jail
