Nobody Wants to Take on Reid

Majority leader Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) is not especially popular in his home state of Nevada and could be vulnerable if the Republicans can come up with a top-tier candidate. But so far, nobody wants to try.

The governor of Nevada, Jim Gibbons (R-NV), has been embroiled to more scandals than anyone can count at this point and the lieutenant governor, Brian Krolicki (R-NV), is currently under indictment. The state's only Republican Congressman, Dean Heller, has been completely mum on the subject of a Senate race. The state's other senator, John Ensign (R-NV), is not likely to be of much use since he and Reid have an agreement not to go after each other, and with Reid by far the more powerful of the two, Ensign would be foolish to break the agreement. Unless somebody pops out of the woodwork quickly, Reid may luck out and get a free pass.

Maybe a Republican needs to make a quick move in, like Hilary did in NY.

Mitt Romney?? Or what about his sons? Tagg, Matt, Josh, and Ben Romney all meet the qualifications to be a senator save one (must be 30 years old, must be a citizen of the state they intend to represent, and have been a citizen of the US for nine years). The obvious one is they'd have to move to Nevada to challenge Reid. They would still have the advantages of that their father does (business-minded individuals that know how to fundraise and run a campaign) and they'd be a fresh, youthful face compared to the Cryptkeeper. We might want to inquire into whether or not they'd be interested in making a run to take down the Cryptkeeper.

Nearly half of Nevadans have had enough of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid as the powerful Democrat heads into his re-election campaign, a new Las Vegas Review-Journal poll finds.

About a third of the state's voters would re-elect Reid if the 2010 election were held today, according to the poll, but 45 percent say they would definitely vote to replace him. Seventeen percent would consider another candidate.

The findings are echoed by another poll question about Reid's popularity that finds the four-term incumbent to be a polarizing figure in his home state.

Half of Nevada voters had an unfavorable view of Reid, while 38 percent had a favorable view and 11 percent a neutral opinion.

I am predicting a complete turn around in the next Congessional elections.

The status quo is simply not acceptable to the country's well being.

I think maybe that's why Zer0 is rushing through his agenda so fast.

Rushing through his agenda is only going to allow for the economy to be in worse shape for 2010.

The full effects of his agenda won't be felt for a couple more years, but hopefully enough, to bring Change in 2010.
