Non Confidence vote

Union of ICE employees held a non confidence vote on ICE Director John Morton. They feel he is not allowing them to carry out their job of controlling illegal immigants. They feel he is to busy promoting the Obama agenda of amensty to enforce the US immigration laws. Can there be a non confidence vote for a President? :?

The one termer is proving to all his supporters how well they can judge character and competence.

If they aren't able to do better in 2010 and 2012 vetting candidates, they might as well stay home.

ICE Union employees: ICE Director won't let us enforce U.S. immigration laws

What do you think about this, Oldtimer? You've made a lot of unproven allegations over the last few years about President Bush telling regulators and enforcement personnel to "take an 8 year picnic" or "take an 8 year coffee break" or "take an 8 year vacation." Even though you were never able to bring us any proof of those quotes, you kept repeating them as if they were true - even after being informed otherwise.

So, if you're really interested in federal enforcement personnel being told not to do their jobs, what do you say about these charges?

You expected no different? No shocker to you? That's not what you were saying prior to the election. Need I remind you of some of your quotes? Some of your quotes that made you sound like a giddy little schoolgirl with her first crush? And now you'd like us to believe that you knew all along that there would be no "CHANGE?"

Never expected any Change on that issue- and don't in the future either....Dems want new voters- Repubs are in the pockets of Big Industry and the National Chamber of Commerce that want cheap semislave labor... If anything comes about- it will be another Reagan type Amnesty....

But I have seen a lot of change in the issues that concerned me- with enforcement of some of the banking laws- and putting restrictions back on the Fatcats so they can't so readily bring on another Bush Bust with their greed....A HealthCare bill- which before the partisan backstabbing started was touted by almost all Dems and Repubs as a "must do" to keep our country progressing and allow us to be economically viable in a global market....

Changes in the USDA- and an agriculture policy that is now listening to producers- and not just the corporate conglomerates...Enactment of the M-COOL law- and a Justice Dept now looking at anti-trust laws- and enforcement of GIPSA laws....Good example is its been long known NCBA (who is in the Big Corporates/AMI's pocket) was ripping off the taxpayers beef tax- but this is the first time the CBB has had the backing to start looking into it- and in auditing less than 1% of the expenditures have found where they illegally mispent almost $100,000 of tax money.....

One thing I'm disappointed on is that this Congress in its partisan bickering could not get a long term energy bill thru- because until we do- I don't think we will see any advancement on any energy development...Even all the major energy CEO's testified to Congress that they wanted a Long Term Energy bill so they had some idea of what direction to go over the next decade/century-- and that they wouldn't be putting any money into long term investments until they got one...
Several even said they didn't care if it included carbon tax or carbon caps- just so they knew what they had to do- and know they weren't going to get stuck changing horses in midstream....

Excellent post Texan. Whole lot of anger in those posts and calls for change. But go through and examine each issue individually and it appears that either things haven't changed at all or they've gotten even worse.

Of course, I guess the old fallback position of "well, Bush screwed things up so badly it's going to take generations to climb back out of it" can always be trotted out.

Alternately, the approach embraced by an Obama kee-pad wearer on another forum is that nothing Obama has done since taking office has any impact whatsoever on anything in America to date. I just had to ask the guy why he voted for a man who after 18 months in office still hasn't had an impact on the country.

Crickets.

Oldtimer, I know that you weren't expecting much change out of immigration policy. And I will be the first one to take up for you on that, because if I recall correctly, that is a position that you have been clear about since well before the election.

The only place I would differ with you on your observations are that now I think the Republicans are less concerned about losing the cheap labor than they are about losing more of the Hispanic vote. And that does nothing but make them political whores just like the Dems are.

But, my point in this thread isn't necessarily about change in immigration policy, but about this Administration interfering with enforcement. That's something that you complained about frequently under the Bush Administration - even to the point of claiming things that I never could find any proof of happening.

On the other hand, now we have what appears to be evidence of a cabinet-level official standing in the way of federal law enforcement doing their jobs - and you don't have much to say on the issue. I guess we'll have to be satisfied with your, "I don't approve of it..." because it appears that is as close as you are going to come to being critical of your guy's Administration. At least you have made a start.

On the other issues you mention, I agree with you that we need an energy policy. But, I would disagree STRONGLY that we need one now - under the current leadership. Any energy policy that came about now would be something put together by Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and their minions, and then rubber-stamped by President Obama. Those are about the last people in the world that I want determining the energy policy for this country. I'd rather Halliburton come up with an energy policy than for Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama to have any part in it.

As for "an agriculture policy that is now listening to producers," I would caution you about getting too optimistic about that. The Obama Administration has shown that any 'listening' they do is for show business purposes only. Then they go ahead and do what they want to do, anyway. And then spend a small fortune going around the country letting YOU do the listening - while they tell you what is best for you. Health care is a prime example of that.

The financial 'reform' and health care legislation that you are so proud of will come back to haunt us all - write that down. How in the hell can you be proud of financial 'reform' that is put together by bought-out crooks like Chris Dodd and Barney Frank? Health care is the same way - a monstrosity that only represents one thing for certain - a HUGE growth in the size of the federal government.

I'm afraid that any real improvements for the average person coming from either of those will end up being a pipe dream for you. A pipe dream that will come with a huge price due to the huge growth in government. And it will end up representing a massive redistribution of wealth to the lower classes and to the government class - those people who spend their lives at the government trough.

Obviously, that growth in government doesn't concern YOU, but it sure as hell concerns many of the rest of us. And I suppose that is one of the things that makes you so hard to figure out for some of us. You claim to be an independent, and at times have even claimed to be fiscally conservative. But, those claims just don't hold up to scrutiny based on the way you want to see the federal government grow and the way you condone the huge power grab that is underway.

I think we just have to accept the fact that you are a big-spending, big-government liberal. And instead of continuing to deny it, I think it would be a good idea if you started trying to accept that, too.
