heading off to the north star rodeo in effie mn. we went last year and had a great time. it is a ranching type rodeo. when calf roping they are not allowed to pull the calf to a hard stop instead they ease them to a stop and the cowboy being timed comes running from the side of the arena to tie up the calf. one problem. the calves are not the small type you see on tv they are spring calves straight off the pasture and havn't had much contact with people lol. we are hoping to get down there in time this evening for the show if not we will camp out and catch the one on sat
we are taking the four little ones with us the older three really enjoyed the rodeo last year and are looking forward to going. my little angel didn't care either way, maybe because she was just a month old.

yea we made it down to the rodeo. couldn't make fri perfromance but made it to saturday's. your right the calves were soggy. not too many got tied i really enjoy the dally roping. only one cowboy scored in the steerwrestling, i couldn't believe the wreck he had when he caught the steer but held on. it took him a little to get him down. i ended up buying another new hat. can't help it my wife says i have an obsession with hats :cboy:

Your talking about the colored fellow in the dogging?Mickey Gaines he sure did'nt quit on that steer did he.

I seen him get stomped into the ground at a bull rideing 3 years ago he's a tough fellow. The guy who was hazeing for him is one of my best friends.

My friend who got busted up in Fridays performance came home from the hospital yesterday.I took him up all my stuff from when I broke my pelvis hope I never need it back.He had surgery on monday they had to put in some plates I guess.Sounds like 3 months with no weight on it or he could split it apart again. Those rodeo's are sure hard on the body I dont have the urge to ride at all anymore at home and in the pasture is good enough for me.I got bucked off about a month ago and landed on my head could'nt turn my head for about 2 weeks, chiropractor said I had wiplash my wife says I'm to old for this stuff but what else can you do thats so much fun and you can call it work.

yea i messed myself up pretty bad when a horse flipped over on me, a couple of years ago the doc said two weeks off of my ledg then two weeks on crutches hurt my left knee hip and back. i don't make my living on the farm and was scheduled to work the next morning. so off to work i went at the shop with my crutches and a knee brace could only do so much with crutches so i got rid of them by the end of the week and everything is fine. dr's what do they know
