The boys at the weather bureau are saying the next few days could be good for viewing the Northern Lights...Apparently the sunspot activity makes them predict they could really light up Sat night and on thru the 18th of Dec...

Northern lights. :frowns: They just freak me out! If there was an emoticon for the heebie-jeebies, I'd be using it here.

There not many things I have not seen that I would really like to see but the northern lights are one of them. One of these days, I am going to take a trip just to watch the northern lights.

We're not far enough north to get all the colours but when they dance its awesome :!: We can see them from our house really well and often sit on the deck wrapped in blankets watching them... :)

I'll tell you what is freaky-- and that is mirages...And they are out today too with the sun spots...This morning I looked down the creek and see this building sitting there- where there isn't any building- not sure where that building is...But then coming from town I looked south at the hills and there sits this big tower on top the hills-- but that tower isn't there- its actually several miles to the south and can't be seen from the valley...

Old sun rays are really playing tricks on the eyes today-- and I didn't even stop at the water hole

You, too?!? Me and my husband both avoid clowns like the plague! There's something just not right about them. :???:

I find most of our mirages (usually a false horizon) in late summer, early fall. Usually first thing in the morning. See things that you know are not really there but several miles away.

The hotel guys up in Yellowknife do a roaring trade from the Japanese during northern lights season. Put on special tours and everything.
I guess to a Japanese couple it's lucky to ...er... stir the sushi when the borealis are cracklin'.
Never tried it myself. At least not on purpose.

We get colors and we are a long way south of you.

Neighbor had a birthday party in July one time. The lights came out and danced clear up, to straight up position.

Then a couple years ago a friend from North Dakota came down. We thought it was just clouds, but it was the lights. Wisps that came and went all over the sky. Me, a neighbor and my friend layed in the pasture and watched straight up until we froze out. It was in the late fall to winter, as I recall.

I love them lights, so thanks for the heads up OT.

Hope you noticed the boys from SD kicked butt in the saddlebronc riding, last night. :D

JJ has riden all of his horses so far. Hope he gets all 10 head rode.

Yeah 3 of those boys in the top 4 of the average- my son took Ferley for his fantasy team... I took ole Billy Etbauer and he's been doing me good- but he's also an old South Dakotan.......

Tonite is the nite to stay up and watch...The tough to ride ones in all 3 riding events....

My daughter has called me once since she got there-- and didn't say much about the rodeo... Her biggest excitement was that they were on the way to the airport in Billings and they stopped at a Casino so her girlfriend could use the bathroom...While her friend was in the bathroom she stuck $20 in a poker machine, poked it one time, and hit a $600 win  She thought that was a good sign of things to come so naturally when she called me the other night she was in Binions...

Go ahead. I ain't watched or paid any attention to the bull riding. Or the barrel racing. Or the calf roping. Only reason I've watched anything but the broncs, is cuz they come on before.

Seen Birch Neegard today in St Onge. I asked why he wasn't out there in Vegas 'dogging, and he claimed he was too old!

If he's too old OT, you and me must be ancient.
