but real football where kids aren't put on a pedestal and fans cheer for the right reasons and sportsmanship isn't dead.

DWU Athletics

Tiger football announces first 33 recruits for 2013

CASSIDY SCHNABEL

LB, Freshman, 6-0, 180, Philip, S.D./Philip High School

A three-year starter and four-time letter winner for the Scotties … recorded 180 career tackles … an all-conference honorable mention selection as a junior and senior … also lettered twice in basketball and once in track … a member of the A Honor Roll for three years … son of Doug and Nancy Thorson … undecided on a major.

excellent. hard to believe that an athlete can excel at the sport AND be an asset to the community.

our son will play football next year for the Bethel Threshers.... the team has 4 community service projects a year, each position group has two, and if the grade point average drops below "B" you lose your scholarship....

they focus on making successful young men who play football, not on ball players who may get a job someday.

That is it BMR. A good school with high hopes for the football program and looking for kids that want to take them to the next level.

It would be great if he gets on the field some or more. He went to a country school with 5 boys. He is the 4th from that little country school to go to college and be on the football team. 2 of the first 3 played a lot, up to 42 games, the other Afganastan interrupted his football plans. Something about a small country school and windows on only one side may make a kid tough! :D :D

Congratulations to your son's success. As for you, his parents, get ready for a fun ride. This will be a very rewarding experience for you. 'Better get ready to travel and hope for lower gas prices!

What conference is DWU in?

Must be the water. Bottle it and sell it.

Congratulations on the atheletics accomplishments, but even more so on the academics! Really something to be proud of. Sounds like a great school.
