She also acknowledged taking a taxi to the school and said it was because she felt too drunk to drive, police said.

at least she didn't drink and drive.. as that would set a bad example...

"Learning math can be hard enough, I can't imagine trying to learn it from a drunk teacher," said Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu in a statement.

yep... if you get drunk the night before .,... just call out sick..

Ramirez said a student called the main office to alert them that Jardine appeared drunk and was yelling at the students.

An on-site sheriff's deputy responded and he could tell she was "extremely intoxicated," police said.

Later, a school security officer found in her classroom a half bottle of vodka, an empty single-serving bottle of white wine and a half-empty bottle of an orange drink, police added.

The teacher eventually admitted that she had been drinking the night before, that morning and during lunch in her classroom, police said.

it took until after lunch to figure out she was drunk...

well how could it get worse... cause this story gets worse.. just like she got drunker..

for starters she took the cab,.. cause her car was still at the impound..
But Jardine may not have had a choice about whether to drive. Her car was impounded on Tuesday in the Phoenix suburb of Gilbert where she was cited and released for driving under the influence,

but as Paul Harvey used to say..... here is the rest of the story..

This is not the first time Jardine was drunk in the classroom, as she was fired for such behavior while teaching in New Mexico in 2011, Babeu said.

I sure hope she paid her union dues,.. cause she may need a bit of help... ( I hope her medical plan covers in jail treatment for substance abuse.. )

Substance Abuse and the Affordable Care Act
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) put in place comprehensive health insurance reforms that will make health insurance available to many more people, lower health care costs, guarantee more health care choices, and enhance the quality of health care for all Americans.

The ACA includes substance use disorders as one of the ten elements of essential health benefits. This means that all health insurance sold on Health Insurance Exchanges or provided by Medicaid to certain newly eligible adults starting in 2014 must include services for substance use disorders.

By including these benefits in health insurance packages, more health care providers can offer and be reimbursed for these services, resulting in more individuals having access to treatment. The specific substance abuse services that will be covered are currently being determined by the Department of Health and Human Services, and will take into account evidence on what services allow individuals to get the treatment they need and help them with recovery.

A first step toward a truly comprehensive "war on drugs"- but I fear it is far too little and way too late... For the past 40 years I watched families struggle to get their loved ones some treatment for their chemical dependencies- and unless they had the wealth of Rush, Cindy McCain, or Betty Ford they were just sh*t out of luck- and usually the chemicals just ate them up...

Will you sponsor several dozen kids a year into in house drug treatment programs-many needing long term for meth treatment ? That's what I used to deal with and that's what is needed ... At least requiring insurances provide that coverage may help some....

New CASA* Report Finds Federal, State and Local Governments Spend Almost Half a Trillion Dollars a Year on Substance Abuse and Addiction

The report, based on three years of research and analysis, is the first ever to assess the costs of tobacco, alcohol and illegal and prescription drug abuse to all levels of government. Using the most conservative assumptions.
