I have yet to pull any April Fool's Day jokes....and prolly won't be after goin out and findin my two brand new Angus bulls, had pushed the high tensil wire up from the bottom, I guess got down on their knees and under the fence they went. Drove up to the gate to find them standin beside the RR tracks. Uhgggggg, so we spent the day.....repairin....restretchin, beatin T posts back in the ground and addin barbedwire at the bottom etc etc. So.....if I were to try to pull a bad April Fool's day joke......it might put "someone" in a really bad mood. LOL

But I will say.......I'm glad Tap aint leavin us. I read his original post, and thought......now what? LOL

For some reason april fools jokes are my wifes favorites. She baked up some special heavy salt, baking soda, spice, etc. muffins this morning using her usual recipe for zuccini bread but with the excess ingredients. Set them on the table and the kids all tried one as they came down stairs half asleep. She enjoied their responses. She then took them to her girls Sunday School class. She makes them some kind of muffins or sausage balls or something like that every week. She set them on the class room table and left for a few minutes , she came back and a couple girls had arrived early and were spitting muffin remains in the trash. She asked what they were doing and she said they were blushing and hated to tell her the muffins were bad. Before it was over she probably got 10 more adults and children at church. Wicked woman.

Lilly,
We have noticed when working our cattle, the Angus like to "pray" at the head catch. Obviously works out on pasture, too. :x

Hope you have a better day tomorrow :)

Hanta Yo,
Some of our Brangus are very religious critters. They bleave in kneelin at the headgate too. Ever now n again, one gets touched by the spirit and decides to lay on down and really get with it  LOL
That's when they get to exit the chior loft out the side gate :D

When we were year-branding and tagging our replacement coming-two-year-old heifers last fall, many of them would kneel down at the headgate. I called into our son's welding shop, and he made a miniature steel sawhorse and brought it out to our location. We put it in behind the headgate, and with the heifers having to straddle this before getting their head's caught, it prevented them from going down in front. The thing worked like a charm, and is portable enough to take to other different squeeze chutes.

Soapweed,
While at one of the Stockshows we went to, there was a workin chute that had that in it. I made mention that it sure would help out if we had one. I'd like to have one that's easy to put in and take out. We work our calves in the allyway when givin vaccinations if they've already been cut, and then open the chute and let em on thru. Would need to be able to remove it when the calves go thru I'd think.

Ours is portable enough to use only when needed, but heavy enough to stay in place while being used. I think the cattle even stay more gentle when they are not allowed to go down in front to fight the chute.
