Neighbor bought a trailer on Ebay and had to got to Missouri to get it this weekend, long way but had all the feed set out. A good trip he hoped but knew things had to be checked on.

Today he called my son to check on things. When he arrived he found some cattle running, all lathered up, two horses in the fray with on limping badly. Another cow down with a broken leg and one splay legged on the ice. A big friendly Black Lab happily chasing anything that would chase. The dog is now history, cow with the broken leg, bone punctured through the hide is now dead, and a big vet bill for the horse. Vets were called and when he reached in the massive hole in his shoulder he couldn't find anything, but cut away a five pound sugar bag of flesh. This horse was entered in a big horse sale in early April.

Guess the trailer wasn't such a good buy.

We had the neighbors dog put the run on some of our cattle one time and it took us 5 days and 8 different neighbors pastures to find them and get them home. Never had such a time rounding up so few cattle. One of the days the fog was so thick you couldn't see the black cattle unless you were within 100 feet of them. Dog survived it but if we had ever caught him again he would likely have caught a case of Lead poisoning. :x

Hope the neighbors trip south was at least uneventful with good weather.

The last pet of the neighbors I had to shoot was a six year old buffalo bull-I caught him running my cows and two freshly slipped calves-the funny thing was I shot him with a .270 and he never even twitched just dropped like a sack of hammers. Phoned my neighbor to come over with his loader and get his bull lol.
