President Obama thinks his wife should be paid for the privilege of serving as first lady. Speaking at a campaign event in Denver on Wednesday, Mr. Obama invoked Mrs. Obama’s plight to make a point about equal pay for equal work. “I want to make sure that when she’s working, she is getting paid the same as men,” he said. “I’ve got to say, first ladies right now don’t, even though that’s a tough job.” Poor Michelle, we feel her pain.

reeman, who died in 1917, directed that after the last named beneficiary of his estate died, $12,000 a year would be paid "to the lady termed the first lady in the land; that is, the President of the United States [sic] wife, or anyone representing the president as such, should he not be married or should she die during his administration." He specified that the money be for the first lady's "own and absolute use" and the payments "shall continue in force as long as this glorious government exists."

The sum of $12,000 in 1912 is the equivalent of about $185,000 today.

Did not want to be in Washington, didn't want the responsibility, loved the vacation, the big house, the oohs and aahs , can't got to the can with out a following, and loves every minute of it, would bet the only friends she has are the ones she has to invite, as the troops she took to Africa, and if Obama mentioned it you can bet your bottom dollar mishell not only mentioned it, she tried to get him to finagle SOMETHING to get her a few coin, she needs another 6800 dollar shirt.
Any one who overspends in their business life, dang sure overspends in their private life.
May they both participate in that as soon as possible

I know many women that would take that job with no pay if they could get her benefit package.

Heck Laura Bush did it with no pay and a heck of a lot less benefits
