I shop both stores and this really ticks me off. Or should say I USED TO SHOP BOTH STORES!

http://nymag.com/thecut/2017/02/sears-kmart-dump-trump-home-products-from-online-stores.html

The latest retail giants to dump the Trump* brand are Sears and Kmart. On Saturday a spokesperson for Sears Holdings Corporation said the two chains would no longer sell Trump Home items in their online stores.

“As part of the company’s initiative to optimize its online product assortment, we constantly refine that assortment to focus on our most profitable items … Amid that streamlining effort, 31 Trump Home items were among the items removed online this week,” spokesperson Brian Hanover announced.

It’s been a bumpy week for Trump brands. Neiman Marcus stopped carrying Ivanka Trump’s high-end jewelry last weekend, and T.J. Maxx and Marshalls have spent the week distancing themselves from the brand. Of course, the news that Nordstrom wouldn’t be restocking the line after current stock sells out made the biggest splash, if only because both President Trump and Kellyanne Conway complained about the move on Twitter and Fox & Friends, relatively speaking.

Yes they are and when you deal with them you find out why. I always would prefer shopping Kmart over Walmart whenever possible, but not any more. Kmart store here is a joke. I find it sad, and now I won't be going there anymore. Why can't businesses just sell merchandise, why do they have to make it political? They just shoot themselves in the foot.

Sears delivery is a joke. We bought a wall oven for our daughter for Christmas and had it delivered. That turned into one big
cluster****; and I never use that word lightly. They called to deliver it (not between the times she requested, so she had to leave work, drive 30 miles, wait for them to show up--they didn't. She had to leave so asked a neighbor come over to be there when they came--they never came!!!!!!! We called the Sears store, where luckily the manager there seems to know what is going on. He looked, they just got the oven in the store that afternoon. IT WAS NEVER ON THE TRUCK!!! Sears still thinks she got a kitchen range because I got correspondence that asked for the model and serial number for the extended warranty for the RANGE(after all the screw-ups, they GAVE her the warranty--thanks to the store manager.)

Friend of mine had a problem with an Induction Range oven and Sears said they would replace it. Same store, same manager. She had to bring the defective stove in to the store before they would exchange. So when the new stove came in, they brought back the defective one. They loaded up the new stove and took it home--60 miles one way--and when they took it out of the carton and set it up in their small kitchen--they discovered it was not Induction. Sears sent the wrong stove!!! So instead of going through all the hassle again, plus getting it in place in a very small kitchen, they decided to just keep it. The manager, again feeling bad, gave them the warranty. :help: At least this one the oven works beautifully as she does a LOT of baking.

I'm sure there are many stories like this out there. They just can't seem to get anything right. I remember when Sears was a great
place to do business.

Sears to Sell the Iconic Craftsman Brand After 90 Years

Sears has been struggling for years, with both its revenue and stock value dropping over the past 12 months. The department store also announced today that it will be closing 150 of its 1,500 stores across the Americas.

The sale is truly the end of an era, as both Sears and Craftsman have been associated with American manufacturing and craftsmanship for almost a century. The tool brand and the store that sells it are practically synonymous.

I stopped buying their "crap" a few years ago, just had another ratchet fall apart Saturday, I use my tools but I also take care of them, and I have older ratchets that are still working, in fact, the one I grabbed when this one quit is at least forty years old my the engraved initials in it.

around here getting them replaced is a real hassle.

What did they try to be that they are not?

Jc penny tried to get the thirty something trendy crowd, had ipads to check out and clothes no one under forty would wear,

Sears tried to go for the target crowd, with Walmart quality, they cut the quality of their appliances drastically, and raised the prices.

I have a wall oven, that I have had to replace internal components several times, all the parts were available from a two sources ,sears and Maytag. I recently found them from a third source, a company that used to make parts for lucky goldstar, (LG) real crap. and took several apart, they were ALL LG parts.

they now sell fancy stainless on crappy appliances.. oh, and the stainless rusts.. :???: or worse is plastic. :? :???:

their power tools are similar to higher end ones except the eternal, instead of brass bushings they put in plastic ones,

it is all across their lines. clothes, look nice to a throwaway liberal crowd, but for a person wanting a coat to last, it is a waste of money, just as well get one at Walmart, instead of paying a high end store price..

Sears was never Kmart, nor was Kmart ever Sears.. they tried to make them out to be different tiers pricing wise but stocked the shelves with the same product quality. it wasn't long before customers of both were turned off.

Like merging walmart and target.. they tried to make both something neither was.

I will miss Sears if/when they are gone! We have had good luck with appliances from them for quite a few years. Maybe 6 or 8 years ago (could even be ten or more, the way time flies for me!) we got an LG washer and dryer, very large capacity. I think TWO king size comforters could effectively be washed and dried in them! They are very heavy and haven't given a minute of trouble. Tho, I'm sure they will when the rest of the family wins the 'battle' of moving them upstairs due to my 'old age'! Not sure when I bought the fridge but probably 5 or 6 years ago. It was a Sears Elite and was told it was built by LG. Just three years later, it 'died' while we were away for a week or so. Apparently it had gone crazy and frozen all the liquids in jars, which broke and spilled when it completely quit. I had been terribly tired while we were gone and it just about killed me (literally, as well as figuratively) to clean up that mess, which I determined I had to do when we returned it. They had told me they would replace the thing free of any cost and we offered to deliver it to the Rapid City store. When we got there with it, we were told that it had to be destroyed due to the defect causing the return!! So, we took the new one home and it was just a bit larger and caused LOTS of unhappiness getting it into the house, including damage to the storm door where we brought it in (which hasn't been repaired YET)! A few days later, I made a couple visits to the local doc to see why I wasn't recovering from being so tired, and on the second visit, as they were preparing to do a chest x-ray, a nurse taking my blood pressure called a code blue, because I was having a heart attack. The heart attack was caused by loss of blood due to ulcers I didn't know I had.......but I blame it all on that darn fridge replacement stress! Though I know it was just a coincidence. A few days in Rapid City Regional hosp. got me repaired and have had no heart problems since, for which I'm very thankful. And, the 'new' fridge has worked wonderfully well. So, with the exception of failure to tell me (and which some people might have assumed in that situation) that I didn't need to clean out the fridge since it was going to the crusher instead of being repaired for resale, we have had excellent service from Sears.

I do wonder if part of the demise of both Sears and JCPenneys is due to sticking with the indoor malls, which for foolish reasons imo, have lost favor with people in favor of the out-door strip malls such as Rushmore Crossing in Rapid City. Traveling across large swathes of the country the past few years, we see that transition as being almost universal, despite the fact that cold weather makes it seem counterproductive!!!! Add to that the popularity of shopping via Amazon and many other stores to have things delivered, the old style malls also seem as doomed as Sears, Penneys, etc.

Looks like I got that finished just in time! I see two little girls who are going to spend a couple of hours with me while their mom works on projects in the shop, with which she would rather not have their help! Any help I will need while they are here will be age appropriate to a two and a four year old!

Sorry to hear about your health, with LG it is a crap shoot, they source their parts low bid for the most part and try to make the product look nicer, as an electrician I have ran into so many horror stories and most do not turn out with the store replacing the four or five year old appliance. I paid more to go to a better brand , one in the past that had proven to be a better make only to end up with what i had hoped to avoid.

now finding actual replacement parts is becoming difficult and replacement is inevitable as is the kitchen remodel that will be required due to non standard sizing.

Just a buyer beware, the name on the front is no indication of the internal components or quality these days.

I'll review our recent Speed queens W/D that replaced the problem prone kenmore ones in a few years.
http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/washingmachines/speed-queen-washers-built-to-last "These appliances are made in the U.S. and come with unusually long warranties—three years for parts and labor for washers and dryers with mechanical controls, five years for electronic controls."
I did NOT go with the electronic controls. same bells whistles as our old kenmore and you can adjust the water level and open the lid to toss in forgotten clothes.

I am not sure the quality as I have never worked on one.

What about KitcheAide? I have new KitchenAid dishwasher and double ovens. I bought a Kenmore Elite refrigerator as the KitchenAid was only available in Stainless Steel, which I did NOT want.

at one point years ago I would have sworn by them, but now,.. it is impossible to say. the parts come from all over and the label on the front seems not to mean much.

A little off topic, just curious as to why you don't like the stainless, just a colour choice or something technical?

I don't like fingerprints for one thing, although the designers have helped that from a few years ago but I also don't like the
commercial look of stainless steel. I don't know one woman that didn't like the Almond or Biscuit color, but if you buy that color
you get the low end appliances. I have no idea why they quit offering that color in the higher end appliances.

That is interesting, Steve. Do you know if LG is a made in South Korea product? That is what we were told, but gave it a try, and it has been a top performer in my 59 + years of marriage, to a hard working rancher, and having four kids (thus LOTS of tough laundry) and who knows how many appliances. Not a lot, as I've ran most till they died after long service. And didn't give the few lemons time fussing over them to add to my gray hair! When you live 'in the boondocks' far from major stores, and NO repairmen, life just isn't simple! I do wish someone would come up with a good performing machine that would both wash AND dry a load of clothes! Something I do appreciate about my LG washer and dryer is that they will wash just a few things, right on up to huge loads of grossly dirty wranglers, and do a good job. Sure beats the old days when we had to draw the water up out of the cistern, heat on the stove, and wash in the old wringer washer! Life did improve LOTS when we got running water and water heater! I still like to hang them out to dry, when weather is at all favorable, but back in the day, it wasn't bad drying on a rack with a big fan blowing on them, either, before the dryer came to our house.

I have looked at a lot of their products from a repair standpoint over the years, it appears that they source parts from whomever will supply them the cheapest.

our first Kenmore washer that we bought used lasted decades, The olive green fridge came with the house lasted decades, my sons almond color Kenmore fridge is at least forty years old. BUT the last two Kenmore washers we purchased lasted less then a year. one lemon and I would just write it off, but to have most of our new appliances to fail for one reason or another in less then five years tells me someone is cutting costs at our expense.
Every appliance in our home has either been replaced or repaired several times since a remodel done over a decade ago. Most the failures started early on, yet to late to be covered by warranty..

If I couldn't have fixed the wall oven I would have had to do a fairly extensive remodel to accommodate a different size oven or go back to a standard range. Many of the parts I have replaced ended up as LG parts. (or at least sourced from the same supplier.)

the parts have come from all over, Bangladesh, china, Mexico ect.

I just believe corporate leadership and a focus on something other then rock solid reliability is what is sinking them.

Ironically I just got back from stop at immigration for my wife to get her fingerprints take (again) On the way back I stopped and had a ratchet replaced. Had I not had another reason it would have meant a 45 mile journey to sears to get a ratchet replaced. So when tools fail now, I toss them in a box in my suv and hope I remember to drop them off.

The man was helpful, but from the conversation it appears they have a problem with them.

it is just hard to recommend any product these days.

Fair enough. Personally I don't mind stainless in the right setting, but the setting needs to be right. The finger prints wipe off so easily with a rag with some wd40 on it.
