The tornado split between you and me, and we both got a nice rain.
I got 1 1/2" early then it started again. Its ok to cuss the mud, but never a rain.

I liked Ken Morland's poem about the Doc in this week's paper. I wish the Star could publish some of your pictures. I was happily ignorant about the murders in merriam 55 years ago. I'm sure your Dad relives it every time he thinks about it.

We are enjoying the rain--1.4 inches so far. I was looking at the sunset last night, and it looked like a tornado off to the west, in among the clouds. By the time I got in the right place to take a picture, it was no longer there.

Cousin Ken writes some pretty good poetry. Some of it might be a bit caustic and opinionated, but that is a trait that kind of runs in our family.

Dad knew that young couple well, and Dad's brother and his wife were attendants at those folks' wedding. A Gordon lady wrote a very good first-person account of that incident. In my dad's last book of his third years' worth of newspaper columns, that lady's story is included.

I'm glad you are getting a good rain, Soapweed. Shorty saw how badly you folks in the Sandhills need rain when he drove thru your country yesterday coming home from Leachman sale, first detouring to Brighton Saddleshop. He saw a VERY nice used saddle there, which I'm sure he is hoping is still there next July when we will be going to Denver!!!

Driving down from Rapid City to Wellington, he noticed that the range is very short to nearly non-existant from RC to Orrin Junction. Got a couple of nice bulls, too.

We had .40 of rain last Saturday night after we got home from watching a great Kadoka team play in the Spearfish Classic tournament. Had to go home to feed cows next morning, so missed their win over a Gillette team, and their loss in an overtime to a Rapid City Stevens team. Not bad for one of the smaller teams in Class B boys basketball, if a proud grandma does say so! And we have as much fun watching the grandsons of our friends on the team as it IS a TEAM sport.

After a foggy day yesterday, we got .90 overnight and was raining again a few minutes ago. By far the best rain in several years for us. We hear from friends from the Cheyenne river to the north (40 miles+/-) to Wall to the west (70 m.) reports of an inch or more. The drought probably is not broken, but hopefully is dented a bit.
