We planted 260 acres of oats and thinking of chopping and bagging it. Just wanting to know if anyone have heard of any prices floating around on price for oat silage?
Planted a variety called Magnum, last year a guy planted some that ended up 5ft tall. Alot of guys around here took corn ground and planted oats and most of it is not doing very good. One field is looking good but the other field is not. Last week we had 106 and 35mph winds and pretty much torched the south side of one of our fields, and tested some of the plants and came back high in nitrate. Chopping and bagging it will take most of the nirtrate out of the hay. So thinking this would be a good option.
