Obama buys big house(or at least part of it)

Sen. Barack Obama decided to buy a stately $1.65 million home last year on Chicago's South Side, well at least part of it.......

in a series of deals with long time friend Antoin "Tony" Rezko, Barack buys part of large formal estate....

Barack received a nice $300,000 + discount and Buddy Rezco buys the yard from him......gives new meaning to yard sale...

Rezco puts up $14,000 fence, and Obama mows the entire lawn.....but they have no "connection"

Where do all the Democratic presidential candidates find all theses great Real estate deals?

Add in the only gate is from Obamas' side yard.....gee I wish I had a neighbor like Rezko.....if only he wasn't such a bad guy....and in so much trouble....

your decide.....is Obama's side yard deal unethical?

The details are annoying and complicated, but not impossible to follow: In June of 2005, Obama used money from a book advance to purchase a house ("Georgian revival," "four fireplaces") in a ritzy neighborhood on Chicago's South Side for $1.65 million--$300,000 below the asking price. The same day, Tony Rezko's wife, Rita, purchased the neighboring plot for $625,000 dollars--the asking price. Rezko, who has been friendly with Obama since the latter was in law school, was under criminal investigation, a fact that was known, but not widely. Seven months after the purchase, the Obamas approached the Rezkos about buying a piece of Rita's plot to preserve what the Tribune called the "aesthetic balance" of the land--since once upon a time the house and neighboring property were a single package--and the Rezkos agreed. Land was sold, a fence was built (Rezko supposedly paid), and lawns were mowed (Obama paid). Things were neighborly as punch until October 2006, when Rezko was indicted and pleaded not guilty to charges of influence-peddling.

I mentioned this back in November that the stink of Chicago politics was starting to show up on OBama... Rezko is good buddies with the Gov of Illinois who will probably end up in a lawsuit over political curroption by the time Fitzgerald is done with him... I think if the national attack dogs go after Obama the skeltons will start to show up.. I just don't think it is possible to escape Illinois politics, and especially Chicago politics, without some dirty pool.

While reading about the house I read an interesting comment about his book deal.......

Sen.-elect Barack Obama (D-Ill.) is poised to sign a three-book deal landing him a $1.9 million advance. The package includes a $200,000 payment for a children’s volume. No Senate regulations prevent Obama from signing a contract for a book before he is sworn into office Jan. 4.

Obama’s first book was the autobiographical Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance that centered on Obama’s search for identity as the son of a black man from Kenya who he never really knew and a white mother from Kansas who brought him up in Hawaii and Indonesia. Printed in 1995 — and largely ignored — the book was reissued after Obama won the Illinois Democratic primary.

1.9 million advance payment, based on the sales of a largely ignored book.

I would say "most book deals" are bribes.....but if they want to advance him money on books he hasn't written based on sales of a "largely ignored book".....then it must be ethical.....

You know Kola,I don't really think this comes down to jealousy,I believe its about ethics...I've been impressed whenever I've seen Obama on T.V...do you not think that he needs to keep the people impressed and stay Clean?

seems to be the standard "ethical" position of most democrats,...

whine, and cast stones when repubs step out of line....but when their in the house "everything goes"......including the silverware......

the problem with Democratic ethic reform is their lack of ethics....
