Obama goes into Chicago-style community organizer mode

Obama goes into Chicago-style community organizer mode

While calling out organizations and political cronies that helped him rise to power and stop dissent may have worked in Chicago, mobilizing his followers this time may be the worse most mistake Obama has made in the short time he has been president. Only a President who has no sense of history would try to override the public's will, and turn what was protest into political chaos for himself.

Using e-mails, Obama has started a coordinated effort to counteract the protest coming from across the nation from all segments of American society. Just the day before, the White House had denounced protestors who had appeared at health care town hall forums as the work of the Republican Party and its lobbyist, calling it "manufactured" anger. When that boomeranged on them, a new tactic is being tried.

Obama's problem is that it creates a connection to Chicago-style politics, to organizations like ACORN, whose members are being tried for election fraud, something that he was able to cover up during the campaign, and is now going to be compared to his effort to counteract the protest against ObamaCare.

While he has a list of some 13 million people who supported his campaign, the polls shows that many of them have already begin to look at Obama with a jaundiced eye, especially Independent voters-- 59% of them already oppose ObamaCare. Now his competition will also come from talk radio which reaches 48 million people every day and spell out the dangers and flaws in ObamaCare on a continuing basis.

The Internet may also be Obama's undoing because in a matter of minutes, if the protest and counterprotests get out of hand, pictures will be flashed across the Web in a seconds and once available, they can be played over and over again. An example is one recent photograph of a Black Panther with a billy club threatening citizens trying to vote, and who Obama's Justice Department allowed to go free. It has been seen by millions.

Recently, a video came out of the White House, urging Americans to report anything "fishy" they see on the Internet in regard to health care reform and send it to them. Telling Americans to rat on each other may be another of Obama misunderstanding of the U.S. system and citizens who value freedom of speech.

Obama is gambling that trying to shut down dissent in the United States will work in his favor as it did in Chicago. It appears that going to Harvard didn't teach him much about American history. He needs to attend a TEA party to see how important he has made Constitutional Rights an issue that people can rally around.

It looks like it will still be a long, hot summer for Mr. Obama, the Democrats in Congress and their cronies. It could make the elections of 2010 and 2012 mighty cold for them.
