This essentially backs up what I've been picking up in the coffee shop talk...McSame is going to have a rough road in Montana- and as the local economy gets worse- the bigger the rocks in that road get...
I was one of those percentage points they mentioned that supported old Ross....

From Rasmussen Reports
Election 2008: Montana Presidential Election

Montana: Obama Leads McCain By Five
Thursday, July 03, 2008

Barack Obama is leading John McCain by five percentage points in Montana. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state shows Obama attracting 48% of the vote while McCain earns 43%.

In April, the numbers were reversed with McCain leading 48% to 43%. That was before Obama clinched the Democratic nomination and defeated Hillary Clinton by fifteen points in Montana. Fifty percent (50%) of Montana Democrats want Clinton named as Obama’s running mate. Just 29% of all Montana voters would like to see Clinton as the Vice Presidential nominee.

Against McCain, Obama leads among voters under 50, including a twenty-seven point lead among voters under 30. McCain leads among those over 50. Obama is supported by 89% of Montana Democrats while McCain gets the vote from 85% of Republicans.

Twenty-five percent (25%) of Montana voters say McCain is too old to be President while 42% say Obama is too inexperienced.

It would be truly stunning if Obama could turn Montana into a competitive state this November. George W. Bush won Montana’s 3 Electoral College Votes by twenty percentage points in 2004 and by twenty-five points four years earlier. Even Bob Dole managed to win Montana, albeit by a narrow 44% to 41% margin (Ross Perot picked up 14% of the vote).

The last Democrat to win Montana was Bill Clinton in 1992. He did so with 38% of the vote. The first President Bush got 35% of the Montana vote while Ross Perot picked up 26%.

We have four polls today, two of them surprising. Rasmussen has Obama ahead in Montana by 5%. That seems very questionable. Let's wait for a few more before jumping to the conclusion that Montana is competitive in the presidential race (although both senators, Jon Tester and Max Baucus, are Democrats and so is Gov. Brian Schweitzer). The other surprising poll is in Georgia where McCain leads Obama by a mere 2%. Again, even with Bob Barr in the race (polling at 4%), this may not last. But if Obama can register vast numbers of blacks and young people, he could at least make Georgia competitive.

With the new polls the electoral votes now stand as:
Obama 320 McCain 218

Gee- Larrrrrry, I didn't see anywhere in the posts where the authors bashed Bush- nor did I---but your assumption is probably correct.... GW is probably the #1 one to thank for Obama's high poll ratings- that and McSames being joined to him at the hip with him....
Just as a crooked Repub Senator who thought filling his pockets from special interest Lobbyists in exchange for special treatment is one of the top reasons we now have TWO US Senators- and the current Montana Repub party is in disarray...
Montanans don't like crooks or to be lied to....

I didn't say the author had bashed Bush. I was just showing the usefulness to polls, and showing that if you were such a poll person maybe you should adhere to apluses poll in the future.

I didn't say he had. I was just showing the waste of time that polls are. You surely did get that didn't you?
