The gist of this is that Obama's thinking on agriculture is influenced by Michael Pollan, a UC Berkley professor and food editor of the NY Times.
Mr Pollan wrote "The Omnivores Dilemma", a book lashing out at modern agriculture. The NY Times Book Review explained that "...you're not likely to get a better explanation of exactly where food comes from."
I hate to think of USDA and EPA with more folks of that view in the upper ranks.
