Did someone move the 2012 election to June 1? We ask because President Obama's extraordinary response to Paul Ryan's budget yesterday—with its blistering partisanship and multiple distortions—was the kind Presidents usually outsource to some junior lieutenant. Mr. Obama's fundamentally political document would have been unusual even for a Vice President in the fervor of a campaign.

The immediate political goal was to inoculate the White House from criticism that it is not serious about the fiscal crisis, after ignoring its own deficit commission last year and tossing off a $3.73 trillion budget in February that increased spending amid a record deficit of $1.65 trillion. Mr. Obama was chased to George Washington University yesterday because Mr. Ryan and the Republicans outflanked him on fiscal discipline and are now setting the national political agenda.

Mr. Obama did not deign to propose an alternative to rival Mr. Ryan's plan, even as he categorically rejected all its reform ideas, repeatedly vilifying them as essentially un-American. "Their vision is less about reducing the deficit than it is about changing the basic social compact in America," he said, supposedly pitting "children with autism or Down's syndrome" against "every millionaire and billionaire in our society." The President was not attempting to join the debate Mr. Ryan has started, but to close it off just as it begins and banish House GOP ideas to political Siberia.

Mr. Obama then packaged his poison in the rhetoric of bipartisanship—which "starts," he said, "by being honest about what's causing our deficit." The speech he chose to deliver was dishonest even by modern political standards.

I hope the voters recognize that Obama has NO ability to be a bipartisan President and if they think he does they are FOOLING THEMSELVES.
He invited Ryan to sit in the front row and Ryan thought it was to extend an olive branch over the budget so the two parties could work together to solve the budget problems. But in fact it was to make sure Ryan was close enough to beat him with the olive branch. Obama has repeatedly thoughout his Presidency taken swipes at his opponents from behind his teleprompter and expected them to just sit there and take it. The worse thing is those he is attacking are respectful enough to the Office the jerk holds they don't just get up and walk out in protest to his crap.

HE IS THE WORSE PRESIDENT EVER.

But that starts by being honest about what’s causing our deficit. You see, most Americans tend to dislike government spending in the abstract, but they like the stuff it buys. Most of us, regardless of party affiliation, believe that we should have a strong military and a strong defense. Most Americans believe we should invest in education and medical research. Most Americans think we should protect commitments like Social Security and Medicare. And without even looking at a poll, my finely honed political skills tell me that almost no one believes they should be paying higher taxes.

so far other then the political skills, Obama is right on target.. except.. we are fed up with good programs being stuffed full of crap, waste and political payoffs..

Because all this spending is popular with both Republicans and Democrats alike, and because nobody wants to pay higher taxes, politicians are often eager to feed the impression that solving the problem is just a matter of eliminating waste and abuse –that tackling the deficit issue won’t require tough choices. Or they suggest that we can somehow close our entire deficit by eliminating things like foreign aid, even though foreign aid makes up about 1% of our entire budget.

again he starts out ok.. but the fact is.. if we cut the waste, and abuse it would add up to at least a percent or two.. (a good start, and better then the pitiful one we just witnessed)

cut foreign aid.. lets see one percent.. yep.. it is adding up and every little billion counts..

but the part he is forgetting is that alot of aid is hidden in other programs and stuffed in other bills.. but don't worry.. we will remind him in 2012

then he spends a few minutes saying how no cuts will really work anyways.. blah, blah and then Biden and those around him fall asleep..

then he hit up the rich for more taxes.. (which means more taxes/costs for all of US)..

again.. Obama and DC do not get it..

what most want he laid out..

but where he misses the ball.. and the goal.,.. is in how it could be done.

first, hold the line.. pick one.. any year will do,.. I like 2000 as it was the last time a actual budget even claimed to be balanced.. but most politicians seem to think 2008 is better, even though it was obnoxious when they were campaigning.

but really any year other then the last two would work.

cap spending at that number..

cap taxes at current levels and add a new "tax the rich" bracket at 1 million. and raise the rate to whatever they can fantasize as a fair number.. cause any millionaire is bound to have an accountant who can get him out of taxes. and hold those rates for at least ten years..

I would be willing to bet, by 2013. we would not be much better off budget wise.. or even deficit wise.. but our economy would be able to grow... and we would be much better off then any plan these schmucks could come up with..
