Barack Obama admits he has neglected voters

In an interview with ABC News, Barack Obama has expressed contrition for his neglect of the ordinary voter.

“If there’s one thing I regret,” he told his television audience, “it’s that we were so busy just getting stuff done …that I think we lost some of that sense of speaking directly to the American people about what their core values are.” In fact, what Mr Obama and his congressional allies lost the “sense of” was not so much the need to speak to voters as the need to listen to them. But the wording of Mr Obama’s apology is significant: he seems still to believe that he can cure any national discontent and resolve any argument in his favour simply by speaking. His faith in his own rhetorical power is clearly undiminished. If he has not prevailed, it is because he has not spoken often or “directly” enough.

Yet his reference to the “American people (and) what their core values are”, suggests that he is aware that his health reforms and his philosophy of big government generally, are at odds with the genuine political values of many Americans. Has he gathered that no amount of eloquent speech-making will actually reconcile his intentions with the US voter’s fundamental views? And that his European-style elitist concept of the role of government - that those in power should simply do what they believe is best and disregard the opinions of ordinary people - will not wash in the US?

Over the past year, the fury of those voters who were not being listened to has grown to proportions that should have been impossible to ignore. But only when that rage culminated in the catastrophe of this week’s loss of the Senate seat in Massachusetts, did the Obama White House seem to emerge from the self-congratulatory fog which had persisted (in spite of falling opinion poll ratings) since the presidential election victory. The real question now is: does Obama know any other way to do politics?

Did anybody see the President's appearance with ABC? This guy is still out of touch with reality and continues to treat his supporters as fools. And sadly enough, some of those supporters are here at Ranchers.

We know you're here. Some of you are hiding out, pretending you don't see this. Some of you have new identities, pretending you're somebody else. But we know you're here. And this President still thinks you're foolish enough to believe what he says, instead of what you have witnessed with your own eyes. He continues to treat you like fools. Why is this okay with you?

He contradicts himself over and over.

I gotta ask, how many dead beat dads, drug addicts, and bums have become wealthy under this "spread the wealth" president?

I love this he is on TV everyday including today making a speech somewhere and now he says "I think we lost some of that sense of speaking directly to the American people about what their core values are.”

What he and his counterparts in the Congress needed to do is stop SPEAKING, and start LISTENING. If he, Pelosi and Reid would have listened and not ignored and worse yet bad mouthing the town hall meeting, Tea Party attendees and FOX, they may not be seeing the US rebellion to their elitist attitude filled Administration. FOX has been reporting on the feeling building within the US for a year and Obama and his bias media buddies only bad mouthed them and tried to convince everyone they were not a reliable News source. LOOKS LIKE FOX WAS MORE RELIABLE THAN THE REST OF THE OBAMA BUT KISSING MEDIA WAS. :)

That just does not make sense to me, seems it should be the word "Listening" not Speaking. Why would we need him to speak to us about what our Core Values are?

We know what are core values are, the problem is he does not know what they are! Seems he thinks he failed in CHANGING our core values! Otherwise he would just need to LISTEN to them and then lead the Country down the road of our Core values that built this country from the time of the founding fathers!

Could have been millions supporting what the government was doing, and millions against it. How do you decide flip a coin. At the end of their first terms President Reagan was at 49%. George W. Bush at 79% helped along by 9/11. President Obama is at 50%.

BUT what was Obama's rating one year ago?
I heard the other day that the Health care bill is sitting at about 38% approval rating and Obama according to you is 50% which some say he is sitting at about 47%, Pelosi is sitting at 35% and Reid is at 31%. AND the DEMS lost Mass the Bluest seat in the union the other day. Looks like flipping a coin might have been a good thing a least then there was a 50 50 chance he would have listen to the other side.

don't look now but he has only done one year and is already below 50%..
so if Obama continues at the current trend... from 76% to 47% ... he should be at about -3% by the end of his first and last term..

Overall, 47% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Fifty-two percent (52%) disapprove.
