about this tool
This tool illustrates health insurance premiums and subsidies for people purchasing insurance on their own in new health insurance exchanges (or “Marketplaces”) created by the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

lowest I could get was about $45 a month for a person with $16000 a year income. and about $2250 in out of pocket costs..
total annual insurance cost of about $3000 on them with the taxpayer picking up about $2500 in subsidies.. (tax credits)
anything under $16000 dumped it into Medicaid and the cost is all on US..
but that is not the only way the working/middle class gets screwed..
if I had to apply my insurance would be well over a$1000 a month and my out pf pocket would be $12,700 or about $25000 a year total.. with heath care costs mostly being paid for by myself.. this is not affordable in any way..
up front I would have a co-pay or cost share of 30% and a huge deductible.. few realize the cost share/co-pay dos NOT count towards the deductible.. or the cap..
not to over complicate it.. but
to get the $6000 deductible met would cost $7800
and the cap would cost $16510
so all in an average middle class person would pay about $30,000 a year or near half their pre-tax income..
in other words,.. like all federal help.. work is discouraged..
and hard work is penalized..
