From Wire Reports

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's budget blueprint Thursday canceled plans to extend the border fence along the U.S.-Mexico border beyond the 670 miles already completed or planned, symbolically breaking with a much-heralded approach to border security advocated by President George W. Bush.

The Obama administration's turnabout left limited funds for roads, lights and so-called tactical infrastructure – but not a dime to extend the pedestrian fencing and vehicle barriers erected along roughly one-third of the nation's 1,947 mile border with Mexico.

I would have thought building a fence would have been Stimulating? Guess it is better spent on a water park somewhere than protecting our borders!

Wouldn't this have been considered one of the "shovel-ready" projects that was ready to go as soon as it was funded? I guess that's not the type of "stimulus" that Obama really wanted. Much better to increase handouts and entitlements.

Where do you Obama supporters stand on this? Didn't some of you complain about President Bush not acting swiftly enough on the border issue?

It is particularly salient that a relevant defense of this cannot be mustered.

Mike, if we reflect back upon earlier posts regarding the border and President Bush, we can find that the explanation for this is clear:

President Obama obviously has ties to drug money.

To be fair, Conservatives would not put up fences around Gun Shows, places of employment or Churches.

So why would the Liberals put up fences to keep their base and future voters out?

The valley is the only part of the state that is democratic. My guess is they don't want a fence.

hmm....maybe in lieu of a fence we could go with land minds and anti-personnel mines.
