Obama's "Global Asassination" Campaign

MIT Professor of Linguistics Noam Chomsky, a long-time left-wing writer and activist, told Al-Jazeera that he does not believe President Barack Obama has a “moral center,” and that he is running a “global assassination campaign” using drone warfare.
“There’s some nice rhetoric here and there, but you look at the actual policies, they’re pretty shocking,” Chomsky said, speaking of President Obama. “The drone assassination campaign’s a perfectly good example. It’s just a global assassination campaign.”

Biography of Chomsky:
Avram Noam Chomsky (/ˈnoʊm ˈtʃɒmski/; born December 7, 1928) is an American linguist, philosopher,[8][9] cognitive scientist, logician,[10][11] historian, political critic, and activist. He is an Institute Professor and Professor (Emeritus) in the Department of Linguistics & Philosophy at MIT, where he has worked for over 50 years.[12] In addition to his work in linguistics, he has written on war, politics, and mass media, and is the author of over 100 books.[13] According to the Arts and Humanities Citation Index in 1992, Chomsky was cited as a source more often than any other living scholar from 1980 to 1992, and was the eighth most cited source overall.[14][15][16][17] He has been described as a prominent cultural figure, and he was voted the "world's top public intellectual" in a 2005 poll.[18][19]
Chomsky has been described as the "father of modern linguistics"[20][21] and a major figure of analytic philosophy.[8] His work has influenced fields such as computer science, mathematics, and psychology.[22][23] He is credited as the creator or co-creator of the Chomsky hierarchy, the universal grammar theory, and the Chomsky–Schützenberger theorem.
After the publication of his first books on linguistics, Chomsky became a prominent critic of the Vietnam War, and since then has continued to publish books of political criticism. He has become well known for his critiques of U.S. foreign policy,[24] state capitalism[25][26] and the mainstream news media. His media criticism has included Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media (1988), co-written with Edward S. Herman, an analysis articulating the propaganda model theory for examining the media. He describes his views as "fairly traditional anarchist ones, with origins in the Enlightenment and classical liberalism",[27] and often identifies with anarcho-syndicalism and libertarian socialism.

Nope- but it is comical that one minute Mike and the Wingnuts are damning all Muslims as the scourge of the earth-- and then minutes later backslapping some fellow (that is so unknown they had to put up his biography) talking to an Arab news station and condemning the US military/CIA's use of drones to take out the Muslims connected to terrorism....

But I would not expect the Exalted Grand Hoopdidoo of the KKK to ever agree with anything Obama does... Its a southern "thang".... :p

Yes, but this is different. Today there's a (D) in the White House and that's all that matters to OT.

Besides, some international courts said the American citizen who was targeted and executed without trial was a terrorist and the NSA held a meeting too about the subject so in OT-LAND, everything's hunky dory with murder.

Now, if you want to see some serious outrage about such topics as habeas corpus and trampling on the rights of individuals to have their day in court, go back to OT's posts when Bush was prez.

OT was really principled back then.

I put up his biography from a separate source just so your dumbazz would know who he is.  Of course everyone else in the world knows who Chomsky is, but I KNEW you wouldn't. I was right. HA!

I can't believe you said that. Shows your ignorance.

Do a quick search and you'll see Chomsky has been mentioned in 18 threads here since 2005.

OT used Hope & Change 288 times.

After their indictments or being added to a terrorist list they all have plenty of chance to give themselves up-- so I don't feel a bit sorry for them...

And the country has over a hundred years of precedent with the old Dead or Alive warrants/wanted posters...

Altho- nothing makes some happy-- as there are some now whining because there was one out for Bin Laden- and Obama's boys carried it out...
But most of that goes back to that "southern thang" again-- as they would have been cheering from the rafters if GW could have accomplished it..

Hey dumbass, no one asked if you felt sorry for them. We're wondering what happened to all the outrage about King George trampling the Constitution and not giving the accused their day in court.

Remember this BS comment of yours?

The strength of this country for over 200 years hasn't been because of our economy greatness or our military might- its because of our ideals- and our founding beliefs in truth and justice for all- and our laws and Constitution that puts noone (not even King George or his Stooges) above those laws and our ability to always put our ideals and morality above those who oppose us....

Like the State Dept. Chief of Staff- Col. Wilkerson testified to- this now has greatly reduced the standing and respect the US had thruout the world because of these ideals and beliefs we have so long honored, promoted, and millions have fought and died for..

Oh, excuse me, I forgot....(R) in White House then, (D) in White House now.

And you waxing on about our founding beliefs  couldn't even bring yourself to say you'd have sided and fought with the American Reovlutionaries. :???: :???:

Details of Obama 'Kill List' to Remain in the Shadows, Court Rules
Federal court rejects Freedom Of Information request

- Jacob Chamberlain, staff writer
Information surrounding the targeted killing of three American citizens by US drones in Yemen will remain secret for now, following a federal court decision to turn down a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by the ACLU.

(Pete Souza/White House photo)
The information, requested from the Department of Justice by the ACLU, includes a legal memorandum which allegedly gives legal and factual justification for the extrajudicial killings of U.S. citizens Anwar Al-Awlaki and Samir Khan in September 2011, and Al-Awlaki’s 16-year-old son Abdulrahman in October 2011. Anwar Al-Awlaki was placed on Obama's executive "Kill List."

“This ruling denies the public access to crucial information about the government’s extrajudicial killing of U.S. citizens and also effectively green-lights its practice of making selective and self-serving disclosures,” said Jameel Jaffer, ACLU deputy legal director. “As the judge acknowledges, the targeted killing program raises profound questions about the appropriate limits on government power in our constitutional democracy. The public has a right to know more about the circumstances in which the government believes it can lawfully kill people, including U.S. citizens, who are far from any battlefield and have never been charged with a crime.”

The ruling, made in the Southern District of New York court, also included the denial of a similar FOIA request made by the New York Times.

The ACLU plans to appeal the decision; however, the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals is also considering a separate ACLU FOIA lawsuit for other information surrounding the Obama administration's targeted killing program in general, "including its legal basis, scope, and number of civilian casualties caused by drone strikes."

At a recent luncheon at the National Press Club, Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul warned journalists that they could be placed on a “kill list” should the government deem them a threat to national security.
The Associated Press reported that the Texas congressman encouraged journalists and citizens alike to condemn the President’s actions, lest they find themselves placed on the list for their own views.
“Can you imagine being put on a list because you’re a threat?” an exasperated Paul asked. “What’s going to happen when they come to the media? What if the media becomes a threat? … This is the way this works. It’s incrementalism.”

(CNN) -- U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan have killed far more people than the United States has acknowledged, have traumatized innocent residents and largely been ineffective, according to a new study released Tuesday.

The study by Stanford Law School and New York University's School of Law calls for a re-evaluation of the practice, saying the number of "high-level" targets killed as a percentage of total casualties is extremely low -- about 2%.

The Obama administration has said that drone strikes have killed few, if any, civilians.
