Obama's Not Looking So Smart Anymore

From the time Senate Candidate Barack Obama made his first national speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, millions have been fawning over his supposed intelligence. Effectively reading a well written speech does require a certain skill set but true intelligence should not be measured by theatrical speech patterns or the timbre of one's voice. It is most commonly measured by one's ability to solve problems and in this area, Mr. Obama comes off worse than the proverbial mouse solving the maze to find the cheese.
In yet another speech on his idea of health care reform yesterday, the president used a stage trick that blew up in his face before. (source) Like a previous speech on this same issue, he trotted out individuals wearing white coats this time to stand behind him in an attempt to give the illusion that the entire medical community stands with him and supports Obamacare (they don't). Would an intelligent person use the same failed strategy again and expect a different outcome? That's more often given as the definition of insanity, not intelligence.
Then there was the big gamble within the speech itself. "At stake right now is not just our ability to solve this problem, but our ability to solve any problem," the president said. "And so I ask Congress to finish its work, and I look forward to signing this reform into law." (source) There it is. The statement from his own lips, in his own voice on video for all to see and hear as many times as anyone (including his political rivals) want.
That statement is a clear admission that if Obamacare does not pass in it's current incarnation at this moment in legislative history, Obama & Company cannot govern. This "doubling down" as many in the media have called it, is not the steel-willed play of a real leader because the legislation on which President Obama has chosen to gamble both his and his party's political future will take them all down even if it is passed.
Obamacare remains hugely unpopular with the American people. It will include mega cuts to Medicare and it will overburden the number of existing medical professionals and facilities resulting in the rationing of care. It won't even begin to provide benefits to anyone for at least two years while the cuts and new taxes to pay the $1 trillion cost (many experts claim over $2 trillion) will kick in immediately. (source)
Imagine the shock and anger of those who still believe Obamacare is a great idea when they find out they won't get free top-of-the-line medical care the moment the president signs that bill. Chances are they'll be as shocked and angry as they were when they discovered President Obama won't be handing out cash from his "stash" to help them pay their mortgage and utility bills. (source)
Bottom line; not passing the bill proves Obama & Company cannot govern and we have the president admitting to that on video. Passing the bill proves they are governing against the will of the people and establishing a new entitlement program that the country cannot afford nor sustain and is destined to fail while doing real damage to real people.
Thanks to President Obama's alleged intelligence, he and his fellow Democrats are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Now how smart is that?
