The numbers are plummeting.
What has been bad news for America’s citizens is now bad news for Barack Obama.
Hard-working individuals -- who have been under the financial hammer of plummeting market values – real estate, securities, et al; and, increasingly frustrated with out of touch Washington incumbents in the federal executive, have now taken President Obama ‘s performance numbers to new lows in the national polls.
Only 11% responded favorably to the Gallup poll question:
“Are you satisfied with the direction of the country?”
That said, the earthquake number came in response to the question:
“How is the President handling the Economy?”
71% responded “Disapprove”.
If there is good news in the plummeting poll results it just might be this…
Despite the overwhelming anxiety citizens are experiencing, the results say - the people get it!
Tax and spend does not lead to prosperity.
Making matters worse for Mr. Obama in his upcoming bid for reelection -- en-route to an extended vacation on the tony well-heeled resort island of Martha’s Vineyard Island off the shores of Massachusetts – Obama opted to go on a bus-tour traveling xx states.
Let’s consider both.
First - the vacation.
Many said an engaged President would stay on the job in the White House rather than taking 10 days off.
That’s seems a reasonable expectation especially given new fears of a double-dip recession and national unemployment now at 9.1 percent.
But, as Americans observed during the recent Debt Crisis, Mr. Obama is not consistently engaged.
Thus, it should surprise no one that the President rejected requests to recall Congressional lawmakers to meet and work with them to come up with practical actions to relieve government regulations that have thwarted business investment and private sector job growth.
Mr. Obama said “the last thing Americans want is more political bickering in Washington”.
Perhaps, the President means the loyal opposition can only be loyal to whatever he wants not to the people who they were elected to represent.
Next, the Presidential Bus Tour:
While such local visits by a touring President almost always make for good news locally – and are always favorably covered by an adoring national media for this president – this time struggling citizens around the country would see yet another example of stupid spending… the rather fancy buses being used by the President and his entourage.
Who was paying for the campaign trip and those fancy buses?
Would that be the Obama reelection campaign?
No.
Would it be the national Democrat Party?
No.
Well, who paid for the tour and the buses?
The American taxpayers paid for it all.
While the total cost for the tour has yet to be announced, the reported “price tag for each of the two brand new, sleek, black, armored buses is $1.1 million.
Stupid spending of $2.2 Million dollars of taxpayer money conveys an attitude to the American people.
Is it coincidence that the American people may be using the polls to convey a message to Mr. Obama?
