Even my 87 year old uncle- who's been a Republican all his life- commented to me on Friday (after Obama had got rid of Daschle) "I think this guy may end up being a really good President"....

New poll: Obama's sky-high numbers

Monday, February 09, 2009 1:50 PM by Mark Murray

Here are some more poll numbers on President Obama and the stimulus, courtesy of a new CNN survey (conducted Feb. 7-8, MOE +/- 3.5%):
-- 76% approve of the president's job
-- Obama's worst numbers seem to come from last week's Daschle news: 80% say Obama is doing a good job providing leadership for the country;
76% say he's doing a good job handling foreign policy;
72% say he's doing a good job handling the economy;
68% say he's doing a good job handling terrorism;
and 61% say he's doing a good job choosing his cabinet
--
60% approve the job congressional Democrats are performing, versus
44% who say the same of congressional Republicans
-- 74% say Obama is doing enough to cooperate with Republicans
, while

just 39% say the Republicans are doing enough to cooperate with Obama
--
54% support the economic stimulus, versus 45% who oppose it

Because Daschle WITHDREW. Obama was claiming, "He just made a mistake...."

What's a little tax evasion to a Chicago boy? That ain't nothing, just a little petty purse snatching. Not even worth mentioning.

Its quite evident you've never been in politics...You don't boot out onto the street someone with Daschles political prowess- but you can make sure they withdraw- and do it while still allowing them to retain much of that prowess...

And it seems like it worked....
80% say Obama is doing a good job providing leadership for the country;

The State of South Dakota gave him the boot as Senator. I had no problem voting him out.

Oh I agree--and so would my uncle who does not like Daschle... Montana showed its backbone and booted Conman Burns too... :clap:

But in politics there are games to be played- and you don't go around bad mouthing senior members of your party....Not if you want to be around long....
Thats the reason I questioned what Sister Sarahs blaming everything on McCain/media was going to accomplish for her...

I thought this the more interesting set of numbers....Must be quite a few folks that see the same HYPOCRIT Repub speachifying I'm seeing....

The public hates this bill. Intensely. The more they learn about it, the more they hate it. The anti-stimulus website NoStimulus.com was so flooded with traffic that it crashed this morning, then it was brought back up with three servers and promptly crashed again.

The trillion dollar question is whether that anger breaks through into the Washington bubble before it’s too late.

Now that the public is really paying attention to this bill, it’s a race against the clock to get it passed before it collapses of its own weight. Democrats and their outside allies, like MoveOn.org, concede that if it doesn’t happen this week it never will, and the vote tonight only means the bill cleared the first of several hurdles that it faces this week.

You want to talk hypocrite? How about getting on Bush about spending, talking about balancing the budget, surgically cutting unnecessary spending, and then laying this whopper on us? Or maybe would LIAR be more appropriate? What do you say, OT? Hypocrite or liar?

I've always supported a balanced budget and conservative spending-altho I believe government must spend enough to provide adequate services- and that takes taxes... But times/conditions have also changed- and I've changed too with the conditions...8 years of drunken sailor spending in a sand pit, nonregulation, nonenforcement of the laws, ill advised tax cuts have put us in a situation where we've never been before....

And just like Obama said tonight- the majority of economic advisors say we will not get out of this Bush Depression without spending some more now...Tax cuts alone haven't worked- won't work...Its going to take dollars just to stimulate spending....Bush was asleep and let this thing get so deep its now going to take an FDR type spending to put folks back to work and keep them from starving...

Daily Presidential Approval Index
Monday, February 09, 2009
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Approval Index for Monday shows that 38% of the nation’s voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Twenty-four percent (24%) Strongly Disapprove to give Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of +14 (see trends).

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Overall, 60% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance so far while 38% disapprove. For more data, see Obama By the Numbers and review recent demographic highlights.

An analysis by Scott Rasmussen notes that the stimulus debate is now driven by a tug-of-war between the popularity of President Barack Obama and the nation’s deeply ingrained reluctance to increase government spending. Overall, 48% of voters believe that increased spending is generally bad for the economy. To have Scott at your meeting or conference, contact Premiere Speakers Bureau,

Sixty-two percent (62%) of voters would like the stimulus plan to include more tax cuts and less government spending.

Problem is- Bush tried the tax cuts alone -against the advice of his Treasury Secretary (he then fired)-- and he spent all the money on foreign investments- and the economy about imploded...

Now its time to spend some money on Americans...Or do you have a better idea for the areas where unemployment is 18%- where 1200 people are applying for 35 jobs :???: Tent city Bushvilles :???: Tam'll donate beef- and Sandhusker can man the soup lines :???: Yeah Right... :roll:

When the Gallup poll in 1939 asked, 'Do you think the attitude of the Roosevelt administration toward business is delaying business recovery?' the American people responded 'yes' by a margin of more than two-to-one. The business community felt even more strongly so"[35] Treasury Secretary, Henry Morgenthau, angry at the Keynesian spenders, confided to his diary May 1939: "We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. And I have just one interest, and now if I am wrong somebody else can have my job. I want to see this country prosper. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises. I say after eight years of this administration, we have just as much unemployment as when we started.[49] And enormous debt to boot."

Lots of folks that thank Roosevelt for the jobs they had- the ability to keep their families from starving....
Just like Obama- Big Business did not like FDR- as he put in regulations and rules- and stopped the runaway greed that was occurring during the Hoover times, just like during the Bush reign....

Drunker sailor spending? You support the pissaway but you chide about drunken sailor spending? Unbelieveable....simply unbelievable.

Where does this "majority of economic advisors" come from? WHAT majority? The CBO says it will do more harm than good!

You don't realize that FDR actually made things worse?

I disagree....The past 8 years of a Repub President-6 of which were with a Repub majority Congress got us into this mess....
Now its time to look for a new direction... Like investing in America and Americans....

Just watched a good show, comparing what is going on now with the great depression. They explained the deregulation that went on starting in the 80's and continued in the 90"s.

Passionate Eye, was the show. Canadian show. (American experts)

Here's a link: Very educational
