Politico, 03/31/08.

Obama voted to ban almost all rifle ammunition commonly used for hunting and sport shooting
United States Senate, S. 397, vote 217, 7/29/05

Obama voted to allow the prosecution of people who use a firearm for self-defense in their homes
Illinois Senate, S.B. 2165, vote 20, 3/25/04

Obama supported increasing taxes on firearms and ammunition by 500 percent
Chicago Defender, 12/13/99

Obama voted to ban almost all rifle ammunition commonly used for hunting and sport shooting
United States Senate, S. 397, vote 217, 7/29/05

In 2003 while serving in the Illinois State Legislature, Obama voted in favor of a bill in the Judiciary Committee that would have made it illegal to "knowingly manufacture, deliver or possess" a so-called "semi-automatic assault weapons." Under this bill, a firearm did not actually have to be semi-automatic to be banned. According to definitions in the bill, all single-shot and double-barreled shotguns 28-gauge or larger, and many semi-automatic shotguns of the same size, would be banned as "assault weapons." This definition would have banned a large percentage of the shotguns used for hunting, target shooting and self-defense in the United States. The bill also would have banned hundreds of models of rifles and handguns.

You've got to be mistaken, Larrrry. I saw Obama look into the camera and say that he supported the Second Amendment. Those votes have to be somebody else's or that would make him a liar. He wouldn't lie to the whole country for political gain, would he? He's all about change!

I remember a certain president looking into the camera, wagging his finger at me, and saying "I did not have sex with that woman." I believed him. I don't believe Obama.

NRA gave Obama an F- But McCain only one grade higher- a D...

My Senator, Tester says he has talked with Obama directly on the subject- and Obama supports gun rights..

The President of the American Hunters and Shooting Sports has an ad on the radio- that neither candidate will take our guns away- and that both will support gun rights...
But then goes on to ask who do you want running your ECONOMY- the guy thats been entrenched in the quagmire of D.C. good old boy politics for over a quarter century-and as such is part of the problem today--- or Obama- who is the only candidate to offer a chance for change....
He endorses Obama...

I know many a Democrat that is a stronger supporter of gun rights than a lot of the Repubs (RINOS) now....
I'm a FORMER member of the NRA...I dropped out of them years ago, just like many of the law enforcement organizations did- when they got so radical right wing they were promoting making machine guns and Thompsons legal for everybody again...Their opposition to putting limits on who could buy and own AK-47's, assault weapons, and armor piercing and sabot bullets also lost them a lot of law enforcement support....

In a civilized country some laws and regulation are required....

I think this may be the group:

I don't know who the guy is thats on the ad- former football star- but they are running a powerful ad....And its just what folks around here want to hear...

Back to the original post; After looking at Obama's votes, do you Obama supporters believe he is being honest when he says that he supports the Second Amendment?

Yep-- especially since a precedent has been set and the Second Amendment has been much better defined as to who it pertains to...

But, like I said above, I'm also pragmatic enough to know that you need gun regulation- so that every escaped looney, 6 year old kid, or gangbanger can't walk in and buy a Kalishnikov or a Ma Deuce...

Its a balancing act- much of which again I think should be left to individual communities and states to decide following the 2nd Amendment guidelines - just like has been done with the concealed carry laws...

I can see you didn't read the link, or maybe you just don't understand. The group you present as evidence is a group based on an anti gun agenda.
Oh and there is a heck of a lot more on your so called group that shows their radical side.

But back to the original post ot, show us where oblahblah voted for preservation of gun rights
Bet the obot only comes back with more socialist blather

What? How can you support the right to have guns, but then ban the ammunition to use those guns? Obviously, he only supports having a gun if you use it as a club! How do you plan on hunting if you have no ammunition? What are you going to do?

I'd have to read all the individual bills or laws to see why...I do know there was a big push- supported by most law enforcement- to ban certain types of ammunition- ex armor piercing, plastic sabots...

At least I know Obama has read the Constitution and the Federalist Papers- those "old rags" that Bush used as toilet paper-- I'm not convinced that McBusch has.....

My main issues this election are the economy and putting America first- returning the Constitution and rule of law to the country- foreign affairs and bringing some credibility/respect in our country back to the world- uniting the most divided America I've seen....And I know McBusch and his echoing of Bush policies can't do it.....

I don't know many folks that hunt with armored piercing bullets- or use sabot cartridges to repel invaders....

Yes, but that's not what Obama was voting on banning. He was voting to ban any cartridge that is capable of penetrating the MINIMUM standard of body armor, which would include just about every cartridge made for anything .223 or up. His ban would include the 70 grain shells that I've got loaded for my 25.06 for goats.

This is like me saying that I'm fine with people fishing in my pond, but I don't allow fishing pole, fishing line, or lures on my property. There's always room for a Paul Harvey "Rest of the Story" segment with this guy.
