Wonder how many US student White House tours can be taken on the money from just one of the Obama family vacations? :?

Can you just imagine what kind of temper tantum Michelle will be tossing if the Secret Service cites sequestration as a reason that she can't take her daughters on a jet setting World tour come Spring Break.   Fur will be flying and they will hear her screaming all the way to hell and back.

I really believe he thought the Republicians would cave in at the last
minute. Now he's got to be sure and convince everyone the sequester
is the GOP's fault, although it was his. Personally, I'm glad they finally stood
their ground. This is the first time Buckwheat hasn't got his way--maybe
he'll crack.........ya' think?

just when you thought Obama couldn't stoop any lower...

“Due to staffing reductions resulting from the sequester, we regret to inform you that White House tours are canceled effective Saturday, March 9, until further notice,” the administration informed House and Senate offices. “We very much regret having to take this action, particularly during the popular spring touring season.”

Tourists visiting the nation’s capital go through their Senators’ and House members’ offices to schedule the popular tours, which gives the administration one more device to put heat on the Republican-run House of Representatives.

During 1990′s budget showdowns between President Clinton and House Republicans, the Washington Monument was used as a fulcrum to put pressure on Congress.

The Senate and House offices were told not to get tourists’ hopes up. “Unfortunately, we will not be able to reschedule affected tours until further notice,” it told them.

Obama shuts down White House tours run by volunteers, cites sequester

Volunteering at President's Park (White House)

President's Park is looking for that special volunteer that likes interacting with people from all over the world--a volunteer that would like to meet Americans and people from outside the United States. Volunteers help our maintenance crew with gardening, help manage the White House tour lines, lead educational programs, and help younger visitors earn Junior Ranger badges. Volunteering at President's Park gives you a chance to meet other volunteers and make new friends. Come and join us and be one of our VIPs (Volunteers in Parks)!

Public tours of the White House are available. These self-guided tours are generally available from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Fridays, and 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturdays

not really funny but on par for most of the vindictive stunts pulled by this president..

I guess I see it different.... To me the cost of White House tours, operating Parks, and expanding National Monuments would not be a necessity of government, and if times are as tough as you all put out that they are in your areas, would be one of the luxury items I would cut for the time being...

Making sure that all the folks were fed, clothed, housed, safe, and had health care would take priority-- along with keeping the daily operation of the economy going..

Yeah, that's what Americans need, a gubmint to feed, clothe, and house them. But, you're really quite conservative, right?

You don't think that is a government priority over visiting national parks or government facilities :???:

If you go back thru the history of civilization- that is the main reason societies and government entities developed- that thru the power of a group they could be more secure and better help take care of each other...

If the federal gubmint focused on national defense, the interstate highway system, and creating a climate favorable to private enterprise, the country would be a better place to live and would most definitely be more prosperous.

Just about everything else represents an intrusion on states rights.

It is NOT gov't place to take care of anyone.
“The purpose of government is to enable the people of a nation to live in safety and happiness. Government exists for the interests of the governed, not for the governors.”

Well if you look back at how civilization/government came to be- most of these folks gathered together for safety from wild animals and each other- and to be better able to hunt large game and provide furs for clothing-and to care for their injured and elderly.... Each person developed their specialties farmer/hunter/clothing maker/etc. etc.- and leaders were chosen to coordinate these hunts- and for defense... From that developed police, armies, business's, etc., etc.

But the basics of ancient government still were to make sure the populace was fed, clothed, housed, safe, and had health care... Definitely not a high priority to go siteseeing ....

You don't understand. Buckwheat closed the White House out of spite. He's pitching what the old folks called a "hissy-fit".

Besides. That's OUR dam house!

Silly me, I keep forgetting about that part of the Constitution that says all Americans have a right to federally-provided food, housing, clothing, and health care.
