Looks like fall.

I can't beleive I am saying this, but I wish it would stop raining for a bit and let everyone get some fall work done. We have lots of customers who live in the gumbo and can't get semis or trailors in to get the calves to town. When it does dry or freeze up, the barns around here will be seeing lots of 7500+ calves a day. They had 7500 scheduled for tomarrow in Mobridge, but I am sure alot will cancell again due to the rain.

East of us, no one can get in the field to do any harvesting, lots of stressed out people. But then again, it will be nice having this much moisture in the ground going into winter.

Country looks great Soapweed. Any country that has a tinge of green to it out here, the power company was involved. We have to buy our rain.

I like sorting pairs on a good horse. We sorted pairs last Saturday to pick our replacement heifers. I didn't get any pictures because its a little hard to be the main sort person take pictures and keep track of the tally book all at the same time.
Your country and cattle sure look good. I enjoy looking at the pictures.

You need a dog to get those cattle out of all that bush.

Lots of cool damp days here as well. Nice not to have the dust for the fresh weaned calves but hard to plan your days. Riding here in the rain can be a challenge as it gets pretty slippery. Not very sandy.

It has been rainy/misty here off and on all week. Our calves went yesterday and we have to back up a hill to load them. We were wondering if
....ya if...we would be able to. We did manage, but if it had rained any more at all,
we would have been setting up panels to load by the house. We've been
going to build some corrals down here, but Mr. FH could never decide exactly how he wanted them. So now, since we are planning to sell the
cows, it's a moot point.

See how easy it is to get out of work???????

Like Mr. FH says, if you feel like doing something, just sit down
and wait til it passes... :p

We're picking up a little more rain this morning...Not much- only a few hundredths- but enough to keep everything from drying out....

Your comments about the hill got me thinking...Its predicted to rain and snow all weekend- into the first of the week- and I have to brand inspect for a fellow on Monday that has a huge hill for the trucks and trailers to pull out of...
Might end up like one year when we had to pull them up the hill with a big 4 wheel drive tractor....
