I had time to take a few pictures and some from the past couple of weeks.
We have electricity now but the paper is still reporting a lot of people still do not. There were over 2000 poles lost during the ice storm.

Nice pictures. The cattle are looking good. I see you have a touch of ringworm on a few as well. We never seem to get away without some on the calves.

Do you know the model of that Volvo and what size bucket it handles?

Sale bulls are coming right along as well. :D

Yep--22 Below here this morning- and only got to a high of 6 Above-- which with a 20 mph ESE wind kept it feeling a little nippy out there all day...
But the sun was shining- and at least that warms you internally... :)

Big Muddy the Volvo is an L70C I can't recall the bucket size but I think it is around 2.5 yards. I am sure it isn't over three. We have a quick attach with it and have a grapple fork which makes life real handy. The V Plow Grandpa bought at a county auction and my uncle (which would be the same as Soapweed's sparky) put the quick attach on it for us. It has come in handy this year for making snow ridges.

Oldtimer I think we had a little higher temp but the sun sure felt good.

Now that's what I call some snow removing equipment! Is that your blade? If so, I bet you are popular among your neighbors! :)

Didn't get much above 10 above here all day, but dang, that sunshine and no wind makes all the difference in the world

Of course I will admit, we're coming off about a 10 day period of clouds, fog, and overall depressing, winter time "blah" weather.

I start feeling sorry for myself and how much snow and winter we have endured and then I see pictures like yours and realize I'm just being a wimp. Hang in there to all you guys living in the GREAT WHITE NORTH.

Yep that is our v plow. Grandpa purchased it after the winter of 96-97 we haven't used it a whole lot but it sure come in handy recently.

Big Swede we have had winter but I am certain there are others out there that have had more. We are fortunate to have had a good hay year the last couple of years to feed everything. That makes a big difference. We can't complain a whole lot and if we did it might not do us much good.

Sure glad you got power Ace, we don't and probably won't for a few days or more! :?
Went out last Wed night about 10. Livin' on generators, coffee and beer!
Was in town today gettin' supplies, trucks loaded with poles, trucks with payloaders, trucks with dozers, convoys of power trucks, pickups pullin' trailers with snowmobiles, seen a weasel (motorized not mammal) cruisin' across country!
Talked to a guy tonight, he said there's a main line south of here about 7-8 miles, goes east and west, every pole was down for 4 miles! We're served (south side of border is anyway) by the same power company as you, north of the border different company, haven't seen anything of them yet! Burned up one generator already, sent wife to Huron to get a new one. That was the closest 25kw I could find, and they had to go to Omaha to get it and 15 others which were sold before they got 'em. Huron is 264 miles away!
Hooked up the new generator everything runnin' smooth, figured I better shower, washed little green patches off my body, lights started flickering, and dimming, rush outside and the tractor is dying! Old 970 Case, due for an overhaul, probably just send it to Meyers in Aberdeen! Now I'm runnin' my loader tractor til I can get my farmin' tractor goin', (still has #2 in it)
Bought a new portable to run a remote well, that burns about 5 gallons gas every 10-12 hrs! My 970 was burnin' about 1 gallon an hour, I have a reducer off the 1,000 pto, run about 980-990 rpm's. Thought that was pretty good. My loader tractor, 8160 NH, has to run about 1010-1020 to keep the needle in the green. That burns a little more fuel. Sure glad I don't have a guzzlin' JD! :lol2:
This is the worst nightmare from hell ride I've ever been on. This tops the April '97 blizzard for power outage!
But I guess, keeps the riff-raff out.........................

Sure glad I ain't riff-raff!
