Patrick Kennedy rips media coverage of war
By Joe Dwinell
Wednesday, March 10, 2010 - U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy ripped into media coverage today on the House floor shouting so loudly at times about the war in Afghanistan he went hoarse until he was finally gaveled quiet.
The Rhode Island Democrat, who recently announced he won’t seek re-election, lashed out at the press coverage during debate of a measure calling for the end of the war in Afghanistan. His rant quickly spread to all corners of the Web.
“If anybody wants to know where cynicism is. Cynicism is there’s one, two press people in this gallery,” Kennedy shouted as he pointed up to the few reporters in the hall. “We’re talking about Eric Massa 24/7 on the TV. We’re talking about war and peace (and) $3 billion dollars - a thousand lives - and no press? No press?
“You want to know why the American public is fit? They’re fit because they’re not seeing their Congress do the work they’re sent to do,” Kennedy bellowed. “It’s because the press, the press of the United States, is not covering the most significant issue of national importance and that’s the laying of lives down ... for the service of our country. It’s despicable the national press corps right now.”
The House resolution that sparked Kennedy’s ire was offered up by Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) and called for President Obama to pull troops out of Afghanistan within 30 days of passage. After three hours of debate, the measure was not destined for passage.

BTW Do they really think Obama will totally pull them out in 30 days when he just took months studying the issue and to make the decision to increase the troop deployment by 30,000?
