Off to Mexico

Well, for better or for worse I'm packing up the family and going to check out how our friends the Mexicans manage life under the sun in December. Mrs. Silver told me a month or so ago that tickets have been purchased and accomadations acquired in a place called Cancoun and that I was welcome to join herself and the children for the trip or stay home at my peril. After some serious soul searching I have decided to abandon my fun filled days of thawing out water troughs, hauling firewood, and unrolling hay to semi-appreciative livestock to go languish under a scorching sun and sip funny drinks with umrellas and produce protruding from the top.
So, were gonna see how long wranglers and riding boots remain the mainstay for proper attire.
It's off to Vancouver via Air Canada in the morning, then sunday morning Vancouver to Mexico where we will meet up with the rest of her family. If the Mezkins have internet I may still be able to login and irritate folks.

Have lots of fun down there. Be sure to haul along a large quantity of your own water, that you are used to drinking, so you don't invent a brand new dance for those south of two borders to enjoy. :) Have a great trip, and don't forget to give frequent updated reports.

Behave yourself - trust no one and do not travel on foot at night.

Keep your women folk safe.

Lock your doors and windows - put a wedge under the door in your hotel and do not think a balcony window on the 5'th floor can be left open. (personal experience in a top notch resort hotel - I won the fight - only time I ever hit someone with a bottle)

Let no woman walk down the hotel hallways alone at night - or even in the daytime for that matter

You may have fun but you are always a target in Mexico - even in the safe resort areas.

Canadians always seem to fall from balconies - according to police investigators - and the Canuck feds actually recommend you beware of travel in that God forsaken country.

Security should be your main theme - if not you might very well be the next headline in Canada.

Police are NOT to be trusted and do not think for a minute that you will get good medical help if you are hurt. Keep lots of small bills in separate pockets for potential bribe requirements.

Enjoy yourself - personally I would never give that country a drop of sweat off my left testicle.

Hmmmm.....we know quite a few people, as well as relatives that go down there, noones had a problem. We just came from there. Didn't do anything stupid but never felt threatened. People seemed mostly friendly, only horses ass was a lady driving a taxi. Oddly, she had all kinds of rosary beads, crosses, and other relgious items hanging around in her cab, didn't match her personality so maybe was PMSing. I'm sure there are places that wouldn't be safe.....hell, there are places in the US that aren't real safe.

Have fun Silver Family! Don't worry about the water, there's plenty of bottled water, and the resorts ice is made from purified water.......just don't forget and brush your teeth out of the tap.
