Friday
taking my little girl down to college(well up Laramie is 7250 feet).
Friday-Saturday
Tenny drove the 400 miles to Laramie. When we left Rock Springs My cell phone rang it was a couple friends asking if I could meet them Saturday in Pinedale, They were just leaving Rawlins for a meeting in Rock Springs. Had a 40 minute parking permit while we hauled Tenny’s stuff up to her dorm room and unpacked all her stuff. Met her room mate Emily, she is from Saipan, we met Emily’s sister last summer at the university. Well I got a hug and love you daddy as she pushed me out the door. :?
I went to Bonnie’s house; I lived on her ranch back when I went to Laramie many years ago. The ranch has been sold and she lives in town now. We went to dinner then I drover her out past the ranch, it now fenced with telephone poles high tensile wire 3 of them hot .The hay meadows and alfalfa fields have been plowed and planted to native grass. The herd of buffalo there has over grazed, rubbed out the entire tree and brush wind breaks and there even a big prairie dog town.
Next morning Bonnie cooked me breakfast as I just stayed at her house, bacon in the microwave but it sounded like bacon when she put the eggs in the over hot pan. She never was a great cook. I sat for almost 2 hours as she talked before I could head home.
Got to Rock Spring right before noon and called my friends they told me to come over to the Holiday Inn and I sat thru the last of the States Republican central committee meeting, I got in because I an the local precinct committeemen. Had Lunch there after the meeting then we headed to Pinedale for the Green River Valley Land Trust BBQ.
The BBQ is corporate America meets real ranchers. There was airline CEO’s, former Regan cabinet members, big moneyed retiree and real ranchers. The event was on a graveled road in a pretty irrigated mountain meadow with a great view of the Wind River mountain range (great place for a development). Big tent real glasses, plates and silver wear, catered beef and chicken dinner, open bar live band and dance floor. It was a real party (Sue and I went last year).I left around 9 for the almost 2 hour ride home.
