One-hundred-forty-one people are paid more than a $100,000 per year in the Obama White House, according to the 2011 White House salary report released Friday. Another 201 people on the staff of 454 have compensation ranging from $50,000 to $100,000.
That’s a jump from the final year of President George W. Bush’s administration when 130 people received more than $100,000, and 137 people were paid between $50,000 and $100,000.
The pay is good, especially when those staffers help govern a country with a stalled economy with a 9.1 percent unemployment rate, deficit spending and a debt of at least $14 trillion.
But it is far less than what most of the employees graduate to when they move to civil service jobs — complete with a bump-up for local cost-of-living — or to lobbying firms on K Street.
Neither Obama nor Vice President Joe Biden are part of the payroll.
In Bush’s 2008 White House salary report, the two lowest-paid of 447 staffers struggled home with $33,400 per year. Another 100 people paid less than $40,000, out of total payroll of $33,193,021. (GOP senator says Obama ‘phoning it in’)
Obama’s White House is more generous with the taxpayer’s money. Not counting three unpaid employees, no one on Obama’s staff is paid less than $40,000. The two lowest-paid staffers take home $41,000.

No surprise there,

EH???? :D :D :D :D

But what do those same type folks get in the real world? Staff with education and experience... Especially in a high cost of living area like D.C...
Do we want top quality folks helping run our country-- or the cheapest money can buy?

I know truck drivers and oil field workers in this area with lots less education and experience than what some of those folks probably have making double those amounts... I know a railroad engineer that made $180,000 last year...

In my experience you get what you pay for--if you pay lousy wages, you'll get lousy job performance and output...

and by the numbers provided, it looks like there are more of them.

But I'm not sure you can say that "personal assistants" that make the beds in the morning are either "running the Country", or highly educated.

Well, Methuselah, we have paid out the ying yang since your Messiah took the Presidency, but all we have gotten for our dough is socialist tax cheats who never ran their own business, lived off of comission, met a payroll, or could find their collective asses with both hands. Dad always said before someone was worth 100K a year he had to be worth 10K first.

We have most definately NOT gotten what WE have paid for, but we sure got what ignorant louts voted for in November 2008.

Do you, in all sincerity, think we are "getting a good deal for our money" with this high-priced Obama administration?

I can't believe it. You just can't admit you were wrong.

Employee pay is an issue but,

Anyone remember Buckwheat flying in the pizza to the Whitehouse at gov't expense? Or the elaborate trip to Spain for Sasquatch and close friends?

No one can argue this admin has been anywhere close to reasonable in anything they have done.

I know. it's Bush's fault.

How do we know some of these staffers aren't shoe shine boys?

"A fool", he is.

If any other of our presidents
had doubled the National Debt, which
had taken more than two centuries
to accumulate, in one year,
would You have Approved?

If any other of our presidents
had then proposed to Double
the debt again within 10 years,
would you have approved?

If any other of our presidents
had criticized a State Law that
he admitted he never even read,
would you think that he is
just an ignorant hot Head?

If any other of our presidents
joined the country of Mexico and sued a
State in the United States to force that State
to continue to allow Illegal Immigration,
would you question his patriotism
and wonder who's side he was on?

If any other of our presidents
had pronounced the Marine Corps
as if it were the Marine Corpse,
would you think him an Idiot?

If any other of our presidents
had put 87,000 workers out of work
by arbitrarily placing a moratorium on
offshore oil drilling on companies that have
one of the best safety records of any industry
because one foreign company had an accident,
would you have agreed?

If any other of our presidents
had used a forged document as the
basis of the moratorium that would render
87000 American workers unemployed,
would you support him?

If any other of our presidents
had been the first President to need a
teleprompter installed to be able to get through
a press conference, would you have laughed and said
this is more proof of how inept he is on his own and is
really controlled by smarter men behind the scenes?

If any other of our presidents
had spent hundreds of thousands of Dollars
to take his First Lady to a play in NYC,
would you have approved?

If any other of our presidents
had reduced your retirement plan holdings
of GM stock by 90% and given the
unions a majority stake in GM,
would you have approved?

If any other of our presidents
had made a joke at the expense
of the Special Olympics,
would you have approved?

If any other of our presidents
had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive
and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown
had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift,
would you have approved?

If any other of our presidents
had given the Queen of England an
IPod containing videos of his speeches,
would you have thought it to be a
proud moment for America ?

If any other of our presidents
had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia ,
would you have approved?

If any other of our presidents
had visited Austria and made reference
to the nonexistent "Austrian language,"
would you have brushed it off
as a minor slip?

If any other of our presidents
had filled his Cabinet and circle of
Advisers with people who cannot seem
to keep current on their Income Taxes,
would you have approved?

If any other of our presidents
had stated that there were 57 states in
the United States , wouldn't you have had
second thoughts about his capabilities?

If any other of our presidents
would have flown all the way to Denmark
to make a five minute speech about how the Olympics
would benefit him walking out his front door in his
home town, would you not have thought he was
a self-important, conceited, egotistical jerk?

If any other of our presidents
had been so Spanish illiterate as to refer to
"Cinco de Cuatro" in front of the Mexican ambassador
when it was "The 5th of May" (Cinco de Mayo),
and then continue to flub it when he tried again,
wouldn't you have winced in embarrassment?

If any other of our presidents
had burned 9,000 gallons of jet fuel
to go plant a single tree on Earth Day,
would you have concluded he's a Hypocrite?

If any other of our presidents'
Administrations had okayed Air Force One
flying low over millions of people followed by
a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing
widespread panic, would you have wondered
whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?

If any other of our presidents
had failed to send relief aid to flood victims
throughout the Midwest, with more people killed
or made homeless than in New Orleans, would you
want it made into a major ongoing Political issue
with claims of racism and incompetence?

If any other of our presidents
had created the positions of 32 Czars
who report directly to him, bypassing
the House and Senate on much of
what is happening in America ,
would you have approved?

If any other of our presidents
had ordered the firing of the CEO
of a major corporation, even though he
had no constitutional authority to do so,
would you have approved?

So, tell me again,
what is it about Obama that
makes him so brilliant and impressive?

Can't think of anything?
Then you'd better start worrying.
He's done all these things in 28 months --
and you have less than 19 months
to come up with an answer.

Every statement and action in this email
is factual and correctly attributable
to Barrack Hussein Obama.
Every bumble is a matter of record
and completely verifiable.

I think that's it exactly, Soap. For some reason, certain people have trouble admitting their mistakes. Or admitting when someone makes a fool out of them. As if it's a sign of weakness, or something silly like that.

I guess I was raised differently. I believe it goes directly to a person's integrity and credibility. I think that being able to admit one's mistakes is a sign of strength - not a weakness. I have much more respect for an idiot that admits he's an idiot and is working to correct it than I have for someone who refuses to admit it and keeps hiding from the truth that is so evident to others.

I've made plenty of mistakes in my life and have found it easier to admit them and get them behind me. As the saying goes, crow is much better eaten when warm. Or, in the case of waiting too long and it no longer being warm, maybe soaking the crow in enough whiskey might make it more palatable.

Maybe one of these days Oldtimer can get enough whiskey swilled to come back and admit his mistake and once again join the discussions. I hope that he does, because I actually miss reading his thoughts. Even though I rarely agreed with him after he took his left turn, I still found his posts to be interesting and thought-provoking. Some of them, anyway.

I do miss the discussions of issues that went on...

and I miss all of them more then sahamwow and littleboy..

but I do wonder from time to time what happened to shamwow and littleboy.. are they in prison,.. a mental asylum. or did they finally wake up from the brainwashing or did they hit rinse one to many times..

I don't miss them.. but it does make a guy wonder what did happen to them.. (maybe they rode up a mountain to see if was where the aliens landed and found a tent, and some lost sheep).. wasn't that a movie?

Many have accepted the call to serve in Government and to assist me in restoring a sound economy and in improving the lives of average Americans. In this challenging economic period, it is only appropriate that senior officials on the White House staff forgo pay increases until further notice.

Accordingly, as a signal of our shared commitment to restoring the country's economic vitality and because of the serious economic conditions we are facing, I intend to freeze the salaries of senior members of the White House staff, to the extent permitted by law. I direct you to report back to me within 30 days with recommendations for actions to implement this freeze.

BARACK OBAMA

http://www.whitehouse.gov/the_press_office/Pay_Freeze/

253—or 74%—got raises in 2010.

Now, there are some important caveats: First of all, these are mostly staffers making less than $100,000, so the amounts aren't obscenely large. The biggest raise in absolute terms went to Jennifer Psaki, who went from making $113,000 a year as a special assistant to the president and deputy press secretary to $150,000 as a deputy assistant to the president and deputy communications director, a 33% bump. The biggest in percentage terms went to speechwriters Cody Keenan, Jonathan Lovett, and Jeffrey Stephens, all of whom got 66% percent raises, from $45,000 to $75,000. Secondly, the 9% average is calculated from the 253 people who got raises, because that's what we think "average raise" means. If, as the White House insisted to us is more accurate, you include all the staffers who didn't get raises, the average drops to 6%—or more than twice what the average white-collar worker saw. And thirdly, these salary increases include, as in Frankel's case, promotions.

Hypocrit-- to be Fair and Balanced- would you tell us what each of those folks job is- and their education- and experience...

The last I saw was that the Washington D.C. area was the 8th highest cost of living city/area in the country...

Makes you wonder how much that really is---when you have local school administration, truck drivers, construction workers and railroad workers- to name a few- making $100,000 to $200,000 a year.. :???:

And I agree- that some on here chose to run off folks like Reader2 that lives and works in that area- and can tell you the rest of the story/real story !!!
